Quite, but decent journalists usually have some insight. Ornstein, Pearcy etc

Even so, Moxley shouldn’t have said it’s definitely be done. He was so definite about it, a caveat wouldn’t have hurt him, he said it was complete.

He’s too borthered about being first he forgets he needs to be right

Yeah I don't reckon Moxley knows anyone these days since the Knighthead takeover. Hence why he gambles rather than giving reliable information.

I dunno why he still behaves and writes like he's working for a tabloid

I'd imagine his current position drives the behaviour even more - has to get eyes on his work to make money. Then hope enough of it comes off so that he doesn't lose in the long term.

The thing for me is this… the club will confirm a signing when they want to. They won’t confirm it to help a journalist break it before they do. For anyone to expect anything other than that process is just naive.

Moxley though, as an individual, just irritates me now. I’m old and wise enough to take everything he says with a pinch of salt, so I never assumed the deal was done just because he said so. It’s only ever done (in my head) when the club say it is.

But, as someone who has worked in journalism, PR and communications all my life, he effin grates with me because he chooses to use words such as signed, done, complete, etc when he can’t know that to be accurate or definite. Just say ‘on the verge of signing’ or ‘close to complete’.

That would still get clicks. He’s got contacts and clearly had more knowledge of this potential deal than the average Joe, but he can’t settle for that and decides to lie to look more impressive.

They won’t confirm a signing but surely if he built up a decent relationship ala ornstein, pearcy and even mayor, they’d indicate if something is miles out

Football clubs and the press need and use each other. I’m not silly enough to think the club would tell him every detail but they’d surely say you’re going too soon.

I’d wager it’s more naive to think elements of press don’t have good relationships with most clubs

Moxleys looking like a drip, again

Yeah it's cringey, surprised there isn't topless pics of his mrs on the next page.

His podcast would be pretty dire without Tatts contribution.

I'd love Tatts to ask him why he's such a melon next time they do a podcast.

You should invite him on to your one, ask him if he is actually getting told that deals are done when they later turn out not to be.

I can't, he blocked me years ago.

Unsurprising, I'd imagine he has a very long block list. A shame though.

There’s getting it wrong, but then he blames people wanting to know rather than apologising. Which is worse.

I don’t disagree with that. But that looks moot here because (it appears at least) that a signing was potentially very close in this case. He wasn’t plucking a name out of thin air, as the club were clearly working on a deal.

All I’m saying is that he would be better engaging his brain and stop short of fabrication. His story was well worth a click without bullshitting and saying that the signing was complete.

And if he stops short of claiming yo know more than he does, then the club will respect him a whole lot more.
