A female will manage a league side one day. I'd embrace Wiegman manging Blues. I really would.

*woman

Yeah just needs Pep Guardiolan to identify as a woman for a few weeks and job done.

You think you made a joke but you just told on yourself.

Who is joking?

Gender is a construct. To quote little Infantino “today I feel a woman”

Fwiw I think she or another top female coach - Hayes is the obvious example - could do just as good a job as the top blokes, with all the support staff, provided players, fans, owners could handle it.

Given the current trend where the players are 'provided' and the coach just has to get on with it, I agree with you.

The only factor would sadly be that too many men would struggle to accept being told what they need to do by a woman. Although that attitude may be more prevalent with the fans rather than players these days?

woman referee matches and the men don't seem to have a problem with this either as spectators or players so not sure why you think it would be any different with a woman manager..

Think the players would be alright but the fans would be a massive problem.

There is always abuse aimed at female officials from the crowd.

If there was a female manager, that would be magnified massively.

Would have zero problem with a female manager of Blues. Doesn't bother me their gender, sexual orientation, colour of their skin etc.

All that matters is that they are judged on results like everyone else.

Surprised you’re not championing her instead of Davies.

I’d have no issue with it per se, but the women’s game is still at such an inferior standard that it’s difficult to compare the two. You wouldn’t give Neil Harris the Chelsea job if he won League 2 with Cambridge. On that basis, I think we’re miles off it happening.

Before the pile on, I watch Blues ladies regularly and my daughter plays too. It just isn’t the same level (yet), but has improved markedly.

Oh I 100% would, however I didn’t want to derail the thread by saying it.

I get what you’re saying and do think it’s a solid argument however I think there are championship teams that could do worse.

It’s an interesting question. Does the difference between the performance levels of men’s versus women’s teams, which is partly about physicality, say anything about managerial capability?

Probably not. If a football manager needs tactical knowledge, leadership skills, and strong interpersonal abilities, then there is probably no reason why a woman couldn’t perform at the highest level of the man’s game.

I guess the question would be over leadership. Are male players all going to accept a woman manager? They should do, but will they?

I think if Hayes couldn’t even get a crack at the Chelsea men’s job when they were at their most shambolic and she’d got the women dominating their league, I don’t think we’re anywhere close to a female Prem manager.

Maybe a lower EFL team would take a gamble but the best women’s coaches won’t step down to (for example) a Burton or Tranmere

I'm not sure about that last paragraph. There's a lot to be said for that landmark moment when it happens
There’s always been landmarks.
But no one’s got hurt so carry on
