Do you really care that much about upvotes?

No, but the ADHD part of my personality gets annoyed when, (twice it's happened now), i immediately edit a post because it's stuff i shouldn't say and just leave the post blank .... and then even that gets massively downvoted .... a blank post !

If you look at my recent post history then i'd pretty much stopped posting ... apart from on match threads ... recently anyway

what i said earlier was "But feck it - based on the number of downvotes i got yesterday (over 90) no-one wants to know... and i'm now keeping my gob shut .... about a LOT of things .... for some time"

So if people so obviously don't want to know than i won't post stuff

there you go [www.smallheathalliance.com]

I wasn't aware of you having ADHD so I apologise for that.

That's cool ... AuDHD to be specific ... you learn to live with how you are and adapt your life accordingly, but it's a bit daft of Mayor to suggest i ignore something - people with ADHD ignore nothing and are aware of everything

You do know I’m also AuDHD, right?

People downvote you because you moan about downvotes, don't exactly need to be Poirot to work that out.

If they're affecting people this much maybe they should be effed off.
Downvote = You're a DvB

I don’t see that the up/down voting feature adds any value to the site so would be more than happy to see it go (& continue reading rags’ posts)

I don't mind it as a reflection of what people think of an individual post ... it's the soddin' "Reputation League" i find all-consuming and distracting

In all seriousness, why?

People in the green section in the main rarely post so they rarely get castigated for opinions.

People in the red are in the main people who are trolls or those who extol shitty opinions frequently

People in the middle are in the main the “power users” of the site who post a lot and thus attract a lot of votes against what they say.

You’re a bloke who posts a lot and who is strident in his opinion - and you have to admit you do get to points where you annoy people so much they respond openly that they’re pissed off.

Your choice really is to either fade into the background or to keep your principles - you have to decide if a made up voting system on a message board is worth not sharing what you believe in.

and what about the people who have joined the site but have never posted who get a vote ? .. and those with multiple log-ins who i know vote multiple times ,,, and when blank posts get voted down ?

My point is that people don't vote based on what you say in a post ...but they go through all your posts and vote them all down - regardless of what you've posted... so it isn't a reflection of what people post, but of their personal popularity

I admit i can be just as petty too ..... for example i will downvote any post that refers to Ducksch as Duck or The Duck
