Has he improved any players we’ve bought or had on loan was the question I got asked today but you know something I’m struggling with an answer!

We have generally bought fully developed players and it’s only 18 months. You are fishing for something to moan about again.

Think this is a harsh thing to try and dig Davies out for.

I’ll entertain you with one that he has - Stanno.

In his first season with us we didn’t have much of the ball and a lot of his skills were suited to running in behind and counter attacking football.

His passing and close control has come on leaps and bounds given how we play. Much more rounded player now.

First of all it wasn’t me who asked the question and I did answer in the end that maybe Stanno and I think Klarer has improved.

I’m going to get absolute pelters for this as I’m not a Davies fan and make it known. But I think you’re wrong about Stanno, I think that’s more down to Carsley and the players he played with in the U21s if you watched that tournament you could literally see the progression as it happen in the knockouts.

Paik I think has improved for the odd game or so, but generally others no he hasn’t in response to the original question.

Given the number of players we've bought in either for significant fees, or with good reputations, I'm not sure how many can be honestly said to have been made 'better'.
the odds are against us, and the situation is grim

Paik is clearly better than when Davies joined. Klarer is much better than he was 18 months ago, as is Cochrane. Leonard is performing better this season than he did last season. Stansfield is much better than he was in our last Championship season. Iwatas stint at RB has shown us a side to his game that we never saw last season.

It’s too short a tenure to really answer this properly - not that the thread was started with those intentions - but there’s clearly been improvement in a number of players

Leonard rarely plays. Klarer looks no better/worse than when he signed for us. Stansfield seems to understand the game better, but is that not just a symptom of getting older?

I'd say just an many players now look worse than when they signed for us tbh.

It’s not exactly great is it compared to the numbers that have arrived.

Klarer started last season on the bench. To say you’ve seen no improvement on him since the start is just ridiculous

That was more about getting by him into the team, who was the largest outlay in terms of defenders last year and he was always going to be a starter. To think otherwise is ridiculous.

I also wouldn’t say Iwata has improved he has done no more than he did vs Newcastle a couple months into his stint, in fact I’d go as far as to say his game has regressed, we no longer see those bullets from outside the box even when he’s in midfield, Paik has in terms of the odd game but not consistently.
