Charity Head (and maybe beard) Shave Fundraiser..

No, not my already bald head! Bit different to the usual football chat, but wanted to share something.

Those of you who listen to the podcast (or may have seen on Twitter) may already know, my partner Ceri are sadly currently going through our fourth miscarriage at present. Because of that, she’s decided to do something positive and shave her head on 14th Feb to raise money for Child Bereavement UK, and she’ll also be donating her hair to be made into wigs for kids.

And because she’s clearly braver than me... If the fundraising hits £500, I’ll be shaving my beard off too. A moment of silence please... 😂

No .. that's crazy.- it's like you're using "self harm" as an incentive

I'm not saying that your beard is the ONLY thing you have going for you, but you are going too far.

The fund is at £317.00 ... if i donate the remainder (£183.00) will you keep the beard ? I remember you as almost a "youngster" and as the beard has got longer and lusher your self-confidence has also grown ... almost as if it's given you a newer more confident identity

Thanks for the message, and concern, Rags. I promise, it won’t be self harm. The beard can and will grow back. I actually think what my missus is doing as female is far braver and it’s for a great cause. She’s shaved her head before and I’ve shaved my beard before and it’s grown back. We’ll be fine and hopefully raise a decent amount. And I promise any confidence I have isn’t attached to the beard.

So sorry to hear of your sad news Chris. I’ll try to remember to donate when I get my pension on Tuesday. Good luck in raising loads of money

Contributed, and it would be deserved for the beard-shaving alone.

Got rid of mine (very, very temporarily) for the one and only time after about 40 years. Hardly dared leave the house until it regrew. I looked in the mirror and just saw my dad staring back; I've never been so traumatised 😁.

£500 passed: out with the razor 😆

Thanks to all who have donated. We're genuinely blown away by the generous support - and yes - the beard is coming off too!!

And to those who have been through anything similar, thank you for replying. One of the things we found out with the first one is that even though it's pretty common, it feels quite taboo to talk about. That definitely isn't us and in our mentality - if one person sees one of our posts on socials, listens to me struggle to get my words out about it on the podcast or reads this thread where numerous people have shared that they have had similar - it might make it a bit easier for people to not bottle it up themselves in future 💙
