We’re underperforming.

Knighthead won’t be happy being marooned in mid table after the investment put into the squad, and nor should they be.

Cool now that's sorted:

Which of the players replaced were fine for a team wanting to get top 6 in this league?

None of them would get a sniff at Wrexham, yet Davies is seemingly being judged against them.

Leonard/Caishin/Dykes would all still be in the Wrexham squad (and they would be stronger for it)

No chance.

How many of the Wrexham players would we want at blues realistically?

Moore, Doyle, Sheaf, Kabore, Windass, O'Brien are all players they signed in the summer who are either better than players we signed in the same position or would have been better than players we had play decent minutes for the first half of the season.

So a bunch of journeymen in their late twenties and early thirties?

You can't tell me that in the summer Blues fans were gutted we'd missed out on Kiefer Moore, Ben Sheaf and Josh Windass when we'd signed Kyogo, Tommy Doyle and Dimmy Gray.

I’m quite happy to consolidate - we’ll be a much stronger squad next season and will be up there I’m sure

Curious as to how you think we'll be stronger?

How much more money do people think KH are going to be willing to let CD spend...

I don't think the question is what they are willing to spend, I think this is bottomless, it is more a case of what are they allowed to spend.

We are now seeing the squad churning, and this will continue in the summer, as all the squad are Davies signings.

The summer window was disastrous, and without sounding dramatic I do not have much confidence in the recruitment aspect of our club.

A quick search on AI … in the last 20 years, excluding those that go ‘straight back up’ after a relegation, the average number of years a team spends in the championship before promotion to the Premier League - and importantly not getting immediately relegated - is 5 years (median 4). Presumably they spend that time steadily building something that is sustainable, investing, making lots of mistakes, just missing out, changing staff and players until they hit upon the right formula for success. Let’s hope for sooner but this is year 1 for us of course.

Yeh, the promted teams always needa season to build and challenge, nobody goes up back to back...

I mean, I'm sure Wrexham are struggling just as much as us...

Yeah, watch Wrexham storm the prem if they do go up.

They will be back down same as Wolves.

Yup, with three years of parachute payments... fkn horrendous take.

They already get handouts from their government.

Yep very unfair. When will we get this sort of assistance 😢

Anyway in my book but I dont know how the powers that be at knighthead will view it?...

I never think it’s too early to get promoted. It was to early for the fans to expect promotion.
IMHO the club, owners, managers and even players and playing style are developing. That takes time. We as fans can either get on board and support that development, or not. I choose the former.
CD has proven he can adapt, this year has been a massive learning curve for him, against far better teams and more experienced managers. If we change him who do you get? Another one from the manager merry go round? No thanks

All players with lots of experience at this level, something we’re lacking and i’m sure that’s a massive factor on our mentality and fragility.

For what it’s worth Sheaf and Moore had been 2 of the most consistent players in their positions in recent years and had both reached the playoffs and in Moores case been promoted before.

Callum Doyle was also popular amongst our fans and a lot wanted us to sign him.

Fans expectation only came from TW declaring we were going for promotion/playoffs and Gardner said the same. It’s been reconfirmed as an objective throughout the season.

The expectation hasn’t come from nowhere - it’s been driven by our owners.

I also disagree, CD can’t adapt. His style of football has glaring weaknesses and he does nothing to address them. If he could adapt we wouldn’t have been so poor away from home. We wouldn’t have dropped so many points against teams in the top half of the division.

This is conveniently glossing over the fact that we've only spent one year in L1 in the last decade. This division isn't new to us, it's just new to the coach.

If you play us at home the tactics are obvious. Let us come at you for first 10-15 minutes. Ride out the storm, take an age on restarts, wait to hit us on the break or threaten from set plays.

Once that initial wave of intensity disappears we seem dumbfounded as to what to do differently.

Away from home just needs the team to adopt a high press and stop our midfielders having time. You will force enough fouls, throws or corners to take advantage.

Whether home or away Davies will change his wingers and striker on 60 minutes

It's not about being gutted, it's whether they'd improve us.

Moore from the start of the season would've transformed us, he is one I'm gutted we didn't sign in the summer. Class at this level.

Windass on a free would've immediately been better than the likes of Keshi, Koumas, Fujimoto.

Sheaf is an upgrade on Iwata, though admittedly centre mid has been quite strong for us.

Yeah, all that's worked once in 2 years.
