Not sure if anyone has posted about this yet but Wenger has been meddling with the rules again, we should have ignored everything he said about this stuff the moment he suggested throw ins should be kicks instead.

This seems a pointless change and that will just create endless low blocks and long ball football.

If any changes are made to the offside rule it should be that if the body part you score with is onside then it’s a goal, too many examples of players starting to run so their head or knee is offside but they scored with their foot.

All this does is move the magic invisible line a foot further towards the goal.

It won't stop contentious decisions decided by millimetres, and if anything it make's the lino's job harder.

I'll also arge this will lead to the exact opposite of the (presumed) intention of more goals/attacking play, as defenders will just sit deeper.

It’s just going to end in more defenders pushing attackers

Only got to look at set pieces and watch defenders push their opponents forward

Yeah, imagine defending a free kick, you'd have to all just mark deep and goalside, trying to play any kind of offside would be a nightmare, a player could be standing comfortably offside and then just plant his toe onside as the kick is taken

I suppose it's worth a trial at least however.

I agree think it will lead to more defensive football as defenders will just get deeper

I think (at this stage) it's what ive been saying for ages. Clear advantage.

Being a gnat knacker in front of a player doesn't give me an advantage, but if we 'quantify' the advantage as 'a full human body in front' then we have eliminated the ambiguity AND made things a bit more sensible in the process.

Daylight between players, offside, end of.

I think it’s just Wenger justifying his salary. The offside law is fine.

We should put Wenger on trial, in the Hague

I'd be fine with it if they just made it according to your feet - even if its your toe. Having a goal disallowed because your shoulder is slightly off is insane.

I think it's shit. Being almost in line with a player bar my left toe, and calling that an 'unfair advantage' is madness.

If we all agree that daylight is the decider not the angle of someones big toe, its less open to mistake imo.

Happy to be convinced I'm wrong though.
