Iwata as a wing back?

Why when we have BOS and Laird who would surely be naturals at the role?

Mind you, he had BOS as a third centre back for the first goal last night...

Vicente would be miles better than BOS or Iwata at wing back.

No one addresses this. Why, why, why was BoS so central? Not just for the goal but for an hour. Was it a pace worry?

No idea, but glad it's not just me that saw it!

Opposition managers team talk.....

Right then lads. We know Birmingham play a 4411. They never deviate. They'll press us from all over for the first 20 minutes. Keep calm. If you can dink it down our channels, they'll be on their heels and hopefully we can nick a goal or two on the break. After 60 minutes they'll swap both wingers and a striker. They'll chase us down, but hold your nerve. If they've got that young lad in goal press him, he's got a big mistake in him. If you get a chance to shoot on target keep it low, he's doesn't get down quickly. Take your time on throw ins, free kicks, goal kicks. The crowd will get on your back and start baying for blood. Keep doing it. With a bit of luck Birmingham will start getting desperate and start making more mistakes. Pounce on the mistakes, be clinical. Stay calm and be patient because they have no plan B.

This'll blow your mind, but you wetting your pants on here has zero - zero - influence on how the club will stratigise the remainder of the system.

Iwata as wing back.

Jesus H Christ.

I'll use this as my signature if he plays there. In your opinion what is Iwata's best position? Centre mid, right back, centre half? Right wing back is a position he could play. He's versatile and strong.

He's alright at right back, but he's not a wing back.

He's a very average central midfielder at best, what he definitely isn't is a wing back, mainly because he doesn't have the pace needed for it.

So not good enough for the starting 11. In your opinion?

Nah, he's not remotely a wing back.

Not really either one of a three either, but we still signed him.

He's played at full back in Spain. Hard working, fast, loves to stay wide and go one on one before crossing. I'd say he's actually kinda perfect for a flying wing back. At the moment the full back seems to just get in his way.

I'll take your word for it!

Just seems like another one who isn't necessarily ideal for the way we're playing him, as if he's a marauding winger who goes up and down hugging the touchline, he isn't going to be doing that as the one on the right in the three in daviesball...

I do agree he's a weird fit for us. CD seems to like having a winger who can do that, though. It was meant to be Scott Wright last year.
