Hello all,
I was planning to put up a different post asking for the generous souls of SHA to donate to my fundraising Half Marathon run around the London Landmarks in mid April in aid of MacMillan Cancer Support.

Unfortunately, my diagnosis, last week (irony of ironies) of bowel cancer has put an end to that, I'm afraid.

HOWEVER, given the imminent danger that the next few months might bring for me personally, I'm determined to do whatever small acts of kindness I can in the months ahead, so could I draw people's attention to another fundraiser by a friend of mine, Neal, from the same running club that I use.

He's a life long devout Blues fan who lost his brother (who suffered with bipolar disorder) last summer and is running the London Marathon on 26th April in aid of the mental health charity, MIND.

Any contributions, however small, would, of course be greatly appreciated. It would be great if anyone who donates could mention SHA somewhere so Neal can see that something came from my message.

Thank You.

I've sent a donation and requested this post is made a sticky. 👍💙
There's too much opinion and not enough fact.

I hope they've caught it early for you.

Ian is a relative of mine albeit distant for a few years. I'll pass the link on to other family members who may not have seen it

So sorry to hear that your running has been rudely interrupted Denis. I wish you the very best with your treatment and hope to see your runs being posted on Strava again before very long. I have made a donation towards Neal's pot. It's a great cause. Few of us have to look far in the past or present for friends and relatives affected by mental health challenges. Good luck to Neal with his fundraising and his training.

Im so sorry to hear your diagnosis, and I truly hope you make a good recovery. Sending all my best wishes to you.

MIND are a wonderful charity, one close to my heart. A few years back I was in a very bad way, suicidal and dependent on cocaine. And they ended up saving my life on more than one occasion. Anyone with the means, please support these heroes. You never know who mental illness might crush. Stay strong everyone, and always stay open to your loved ones
