Thought Tuchel’s comments were v interesting about playing against low blocks. He said you can’t pass around them, and need to win 1v1s with dribbling and shots.

He’s right. Japan got a lot of praise but played virtually the whole of the game on the edge of their own area. Tedious. Scored a good goal that England defended badly. They were getting praised by Lee Dixon and co with the comment that they’ll go deep in the WC. Don’t see it myself.

The whole point is that dribbling is hard as the cover on the other side of the man you beat is never far behind in a low block, it is incredibly hard to have a '1v1' in that sense.

We only started to look dangerous when we got Burn and Maguire up for corners. A bit of putting it in the mixer can work sometimes.
