Hello fellow b9’s , new member here ….
Any thoughts on the continued use of Ducksch…..
It feels to me like the same situation Davies had with Willumson where he was determined to use/play him when most people had come to the conclusion many weeks prior that he isn’t good enough…..for a guy of some size Ducksch seems petrified of physical contact…
I would much rather see Priske and stansfield starting games…..

Ducksch has an excellent goal return, Willy looked lost at this level imo. Difficult to compare? Duck must be first name on sheet.

Commentators couldn’t understand why our best goal scorer was playing as a CAM, and noted he struggles to link play. Find it odd we’ve done this all season…

Agree, think it’s mad we aren’t utilising Priske.

I don't think we can argue with Ducksh's numbers, he's been pretty comfortably our most potent attacking player.

He does have faults, the lack of physicality being an obvious one. But we're a significantly better team with him in it than not.

He was a bit rubbish yesterday though to be fair. But most of them were.

So we weren't signifcantly better with him in the team?

Probably not yesterday. But this season overall and in general, I'd say so.

Do you not agree?

Our problem isn't the Duck. It's our over-reliance on the Duck.

He was crap yesterday. But players have off days, you shouldn't build a system that needs everyone to be on it all the time.

We don't have wingers setting up our strikers. We don't have overlapping full backs getting in behind or to the byline. We haven't been a threat from set pieces for ages. We haven't had any goals from midfield since maybe December?

We're basically relying on intricate passing moves through the Duck for goals, or for him to be on the end of one. We've essentially build a system with a single point of failure, which is never going to be a good solution

I'm sure I'm exaggerating but how long has it been since we scored a scrappy goal, a scruffy goal, a lucky deflected goal, a crap goal. We don't, because we don't even try to.

Can't wait to see the back of him.

Never seen a more cowardly player in my 37 years of supporting the club. The one touch stuff is because he shit scared of being tackled.

One hell of a strange player.

One problem with Ducksch is that having him in the team really disrupts Stansfield.
We've effectively replaced Stansfield's goals with Ducksh's goals since Ducksch came inti the team regularly. So there has been a minimal net addition to our scoring. Probavly two or 3 extra goals at most.

I like Ducksch. He's a good player, but I don't think he is the player we needed. He really wants to play as the second foward, as does Stansfield. When they both play we do not keep the ball well enough up front..

I'm not entirely convinced by our recruitment of Ducksch. I wonder if we bought him because he was available more than because he was what we thought we needed.

He does improve us in some ways, but also weakens us in others. I would keep him, so long as we can recruit a more physical player to replace Kyogo.
But if we are short of £ i'd sell him ahead of selling Stansfield just because of their ages.

Two different players but Both would struggle long term due to lack of pace and speed and ability to move with the ball as well especially in Ducksch, his fear of contact.

Bizarre that we’ve signed two very specific players for an attacking role. Very few clubs sign those types of players and in Ducksch’s case, his age too plays a part.

Thanks for the opinions guys I appreciate it, I also obviously appreciate his goals return, maybe I’m being harsh on the guy.
I thought we were buying an experienced number 9 bruiser targetman and for the first couple of games that seemed to be what we had, doesn’t seem 1 thing or the other now to me….
The young lad Priske looks desperate for a run of games and i feel stansfield could play off him so much better…..
1 of a dozen problems to be solved

Im not the biggest fan of Marvin tbh- his lack of aggression in tackles/headers frustrates me given he's built like a brisk sh+tthouse, - but, whatever else, he's our leading goal scorer after having only become a regular inter team in, what was it, October/November?

Absolutely no comparison though. Marvin is a top half Championship player and, with a more attacking minded set up he'll be a huge asset next year if he's still here.

I said pretty much the same thing on another thread, and someone asked for an example of him having no bottle!!
Another poster hit the nail on the head, when he said he loves just doing the one touch stuff because he shit scared of getting tackled, rumour is, he wants to leave in the summer, hope he goes, although I know a lot on here love him and would be gutted to see him leave, a real marmite player

I do think there's something in the lack of scruffy goals scored. I was saying at the game on Friday that the only goal I remember us scoring on a counter attack this season or against the run of play was the winner away to Blackburn at the start of the season.

Ducksh is great at one touch play and it's fantastic when it comes off, but it very rarely does, because it's the hardest thing to do in football. It was infuriating on Friday.

Very talented but he was really bad yesterday

Pretending to jump for headers, playing everything first time even when the pass wasn’t remotely on, very infuriating, technically lovely but very much a wimp.
