My missis and I, no kids, want a holiday in the sun this year, not too fussed where, although probably somewhere like Kefalonia, love that place!

Wondering about booking the time off, sorting dog care and then seeing if I can find a good deal the week/day before. Book on Friday to fly out Saturday to wherever is available, sort of thing.

Can you still get good deals like this or is it better to book as early as possible?

Much Obliged

You may need to wait for it to cycle around though if you miss it 😀

Quite the opposite. With fuel prices on the rise some operators are pointing out they are able in Law to increase the price of your holiday even if you've paid for it in full.

Kefalonia was always the more expensive end of the Med anyway so small chance of bargains there.

This might be worth a look.

I would avoid Cape Verde unless you enjoy dysentery.

Went to Cape Verde 2024. Loved it. Didn't go with TUI so didn't get sick!!

Will check those links cheers.

But does sound a bit harsh you can book and pay for a holiday and then have to pay some more.

I want some September sun!!!

Have a look at TUI late deals, you can get a week away for less than £300 when I’ve just looked especially if you aren’t fussed where you go. Probably going to be a bit more in the summer months but avoid kids holidays and you should get a deal, Jet2 have similar offers. Enjoy

TBF to them, if they don't then they will probably go bust which would either mean you don't get your holiday or can't get back from it that easily.

I’m sure when fuel prices drop they’ll refund people who have paid too much rather than too little, as well 😉

We usually go into a travel agent with the dates we want to travel, They have access to most of the suppliers,
Some of them work on a commission basis so they usually work harder to get you a deal.

Are travel agents still actually a thing?

As in an actual shop?

Blimey.

Almost impossible to get the real cheap 'square deals' now.

My recommendation is to book it all yourself. So start with the flight - you can get very cheap deals if you're flexible; particularly what time you fly or if you're not dead set on a resort or island. Then build it out from there.

In June, I'm going to Lloret De Mar in Spain for 5 days. Got a return flight, accommodation and a transfer all for around £200.

Lloret wasn't even on my list - but the maths added up and I wanted some sun and booze!
