Fair play to the Southampton boss. Only 33, promoted from within and has really turned them around.

I'd love us to go the same route as Southampton, by hiring a young up and coming coach to manage the under 21's then having him settled in the club to take over as interim if a change of management works.

It's a strategy that seems to have worked well for Brentford over the years as well and I'd love KH to move away from giving jobs out to mates or ex players unless they are highly rated.

He was only appointed the U21 coach in the summer having been assistant at Genoa for 3 years, I think he’d worked with Struber at Barnsley before that.

I think he was brought specifically in to be Stills successor, albeit not as soon as it happened.

This seems a bit of an anomaly though doesn't it as generally promoting a u21 or assistant coach very rarely works. You might get a short initial bounce but can't think of many that have worked out with any form of longevity

They have a probably the best squad the league. It’s not as great a job as some say but fair play to him especially at 33 which is very young.

Southampton did hire an up and coming manager. Will Still. If Chris Davies doesn’t fit that description I don’t know who would.

Our coaching staff is infested with young up and comers.

Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t. And our particular up and comers may yet come good.

Brentford seem to do it very well.

It works if you know what attributes you need and can find them within your own club.

What matters is not whether you have young coaches and mangers, or whether they were promoted from within, but if they are good enough at their job, both individually and as a group.

Einstein lives

Don't rate him as a manager.
Big ideas but never shown he can get a team promoted.

We would. Problem is at the moment its a less than average outcome.

What's happened at Southampton kinda proves the point, a good manager gets the most out of the squad which CD hasn't managed to do yet. You want to give him another season? (I'm not saying you're wrong, but it's a hell of a risk)
