I get the old saying, speculate to accumulate, but doesnt seem to have worked out as we hoped. This does happen, but theres no long term benefit to this really. I am sure they know this, its going to be interesting to see what changes are made during close season ready for the next.

The wage to turnover ratio worries me. That's completely unsustainable and I'm surprised we're being that reckless.

It doesn't surprisee that a bloke who spent £XXm on Jay Stansfield, gave it the biggun in a fan zone about signing Vicente and supposedly went back in multiple times for Akpom has maybe been a bit reckless lol

No I don’t think he is, or does, I think he largely does what he’s told and his role is facilitating what the people above him want, making calls, doing deals, using contacts, he is not a Director of Football by most measures, but for some reason has that title.

Not sure anyone would argue differently, we’ve all been saying the same for months, revenue is great so long as it’s spent wisely. We also have a Director of Football that doesn’t direct anything and seems to have little accountability.

Do we think Gardner is really acting as a true director of football, based on what were seeing from the outside in? Does he really have the autonomy he should do and is he perhaps too closely tied to KH in decision making. The involvement in transfers, although seemingly exciting, feels also a little strange. The summer gives everyone a chance to reflect and important decisions are to be made based on the outcomes were to see. I cant see large scale changes really but, some may be necessary.

They have to be aligned. That said, I don't rate Gardner. Wouldn't be that bothered if he left the club completely.

I want the best we can possibly get in each position in the club, is Gardner the best Director of Football we can currently get?

I wonder how much our wages have gone up this season in comparison to our revenue. Presumably, revenue only slightly whilst wages significantly. That revenue for League 1 is incredibly impressive and shows the brilliant work Knighthead have done off the pitch. We just need to replicate it on the pitch and we'll be flying.

For some reason, those numbers make me feel far more confident about next season. If we can make some key and sensible decisions in the summer...

For me, the interest we are paying KH on the loan facility is concerning. We are borrowing and borrowing but not reducing it. For that year it appears to be over £10m. That said, we then get £9m back in clever sponsorship.

I don’t think it’s anything to worry about. My read is that it’s a way of establishing arms length commercial terms so that sponsorships from Knighthead are legitimate under P&S rules etc.

this is what worries me, close season is when we need a chairman the most, with one absent i think it could set us back another 12 months, I get the feeling we will be starting next season with CD in charge, unless we see KH take some authority them selves.

Wage ratio needs to come down. I belive in the PL it's maximum 85% and 75% for UEFA competitions. It's something we need to be working towards now and not wait until it hits us in the face. The new CFO will start to get a grip on it.

Yes true but worth noting under the squad cost ratio rules - which I think will be adopted - that there’s a carve out for ‘admin’ costs (ie the non football side of the wage bill) so the percentage will naturally come down anyway.

I always circle back to the comments of "World Class". This wasnt only applicable to infrastructure, but everything. That includes staff. I get it that to get that level of staff requires us to be in the premier league in some instances, but I am very sure if you want to you can employ suitably experienced staff that have done this job before at the right levels that could bring a lot more experience and value. This said, the fact it hasnt happened could be down to things we dont understand. Striking me at the moment that its down to trust and control that can be maintained with the current setup. Time to stand back a little perhaps and relinquish and trust in experienced people?

No, the League One season is taken into account for our 3 year cycle of PSR. The division has different rules but if you get promoted, you need to have been compliant in that season as well.
