Would it have been better to keep the squad mostly together with big characters such as Bielik and May whilst adding some extra quality, then pushed on the following year. It certainly would have dampened expectations and also maybe gave Davies abit more grace with the performances and position in the table.

I know it wouldn’t be what the fans wanted especially given Wagners messaging but that’s why the professionals make the decisions. Did we underestimate the league?

I was in the camp of get rid of everyone not good enough for the league such as May and replace them with better quality by the way but again that’s as a fan just wanting more.

Or is it as simple as a better manager would have gave us a better season and it’s all on him.

20/20 innit.

Had that have happened everybody would be moaning about the lack of ambition, "where's the money gone Tom?", etc etc.

Kinda a good job we didn't keep the same squad, we're 15th (or whatever, cba to look at the table) with a superior squad. We may have been in a relegation battle had we not spent, who knows.

Impossible to say if we would have been better as a team but i can guarantee May would have scored more than Kyogo.

In all seriousness the ones we did keep on from L1 didn't do enough with a couple of obvious exceptions, and we moved the bulk on in January, so i think that answers the question.

Do we think the togetherness of the squad would have helped though they seemed more of a group last season but again was that just because everything was going our way.

I think the change was needed, the issue was who came in.

Failing to land a good enough LCB, not getting LB cover, getting Doyle in rather than a Solis profile CM and picking Kyogo over someone like Kone or Makama who while rough around the edges would have given us much more power and dynamism up front. Obviously that is looking at it with the benefit of hindsight.

As a long time defender of the manager it cuts me deeply to have come to the realisation he just aint good enough. Undeachieving however you want to slice it.

Knighthead do need to make sure there is a proper, full review of the season and make the changes they need to to ensure things go better.

The same Alfie May who’s never played higher than the third division?

The same Alfie May who went on a 16 game barren spell in a team that got 111 points?

The same Alfie May who has scored 5 goals all season in the league for Huddersfield?

Not signing Kone was daft.
Not signing Callum Doyle dafter.
No hindsight needed

Keep saying this but you don’t know the reasons for us not signing them - nor do you know for 100% sure if they’d have worked in our team.

I’ll freely accept that recruitment could have been better but I’m also pretty confident in saying it’s more of a gamble than most on here think it is.

Of course I don’t know how they’d have worked in our team but both would’ve had resale value and I’m pretty confident would’ve offered more than Robinson, Panzo and Kyogo and for less wages

1 of which was a penalty, I would say letting him go has been entirely vindicated of most things.

His stats coming off the bench for us last season were terrible and there is nothing to say that would improve at a level above where he had ever played as he approaches his mid 30s.

Kyogo has been a disaster but nobody can 'guarantee' May would have scored more and certainly not noticably more that would mean he was worth keeping.

I do get it is tough. and both targets either don't come off or there are valid reasons we don't know that means a target isn't an option. So I'm not going to get into specific targets.

But it is very hard to see how things weren't got pretty wrong in the summer, leaving us with an unbalanced squad and some players really clearly not up to it. The club needs to make sure it is doing everything it can to understand why it made those errors and how it will avoid them in the future. Look at who other teams signed and work out how they got the right targets etc.
