Remember it well, Mulryne scored a hattrick for them, the World Cup players sat it out but they still had Giggs, Butt, Cole, Cruyff, Irwin, Neville, May etc.

My very first Blues game!

Tom has got them to agree to be our feeder club, this is just a sweetener for them, so they get first friendly at the Powerhouse.

The fact two in the last two posts here have said Blues playing peak 90's Man United was their first game (Man u were at their peak though the team put out was not a first team) shows the potential and importance of this fixture in kids coming to the game and Blues staying with them for life.

Blues and Barcelona met a few times in the Fairs Cup in the late 50's.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1955%E2%80%931958_Inter-Cities_Fairs_Cup

In the semis for the 55-58 tournament (the first one). Birmingham winning 4-3 at home on 23 Oct 1957. But, losing 2-1 on 13 Nov 1957.

And then meeting again in the final of the 58-60 tournament (drawing 0-0 at home and losing 4-1 away).

So nice to play again a European rival all these years later :)

It’s a huge opportunity to try to convert the glory supporters who live in Birmingham but support Arsenal/Liverpool etc.

Got to fill the Powerhouse somehow!

Thought the same, took my mate to this game and he was flip flopping between glory hunting teams at the time, he decided to support Blues after it and has been Blues since.

Absolutely this - as lots of our fans cant make midweek games due to work or long drive and its too late for kids etc so those seats can be sold to those who are close by who would not normally go to Blues.

Also lots of STHs may well be away on summer hols so a good chance to grab some local glory hunters.
Turn left when you get on a plane.
