delta will never fly from bhx. they're a main member of sky team so their europe hubs are mostly ams. If I was a soothsayer I'd say an airline like jet 2 may try a transatlantic route and use bhx but I'm wildly speculating

forgot to add that jet2 used to do new york charters from regionals when they had 757's. They're an ambituous and well run airline so I'm sure they'd be looking at something like that. Get a couple of 737 max and see if it works

It is unfortunate, but BHX is equidistant from London and Manchester so will always struggle attracting long-haul routes.

I didn't say they did.

Building a huge sport complex increases tourist numbers, is what I said. That may create additional aid demand from the US. [/quote]

I’m not so sure the sports quarter will attract that much international interest. There may be one off or annual events like a European final, a NFL game, a furrie convention or a Pet Shop boys tribute act that could pull in a crowd but that’s not sustainable in itself. After all you are still in Birmingham and it’s such a big turd it can’t really be polished.

Hoping for a JetBlue option at some point.

Possibly but keep an eye on an airline called Breeze, now big in the US serving 2nd cities, looking at starting transatlantic ops but need to have their A220’s certified for such a long trip over water. Their aircraft would possibly make sense 120-160 capacity

Sort youselfs out. I live 10 miles from the Airport that serves the 2nd biggest city in the UK. How is it that i can not fly direct to anywhere in the USA. I have to go to London Manchester. Its not lack of demand. Sort it out

The England football team flew out of BHX on a Virgin flight today to US

It is comments like that that keeps people thinking every inch of Birmingham is a shit hole. Yep some of it is, but there is lots of good stuff too.

Our airport is shit. Got back last night and same as always sat on the tarmac for around 20 mins before doors even open, didn't need steps to the plane thankfully as that usually adds another 10 mins as they only seem to have one set. As soon as I entered the building I was met by a massive wall advertising Coventry, cheeky effers should be told to piss off.
A long wait for luggage yet again but that might of been because the egates were working for once and we got through fairly quickly.

Approx 50% of the airport share holder is split between the 7 local councils which make up the West Mids which incls Coventry so they are perfectly entitled to advertise there.

Which when you add the other areas who are closer to us than Manchester, such as Derby, Nottingham,Leicester Northampton then move south west all the way to Bristol and south Wales. All should be happier to come here than Manchester or Heathrow purely for convenience.

There's a reason why TfW runs its Aberystwyth service out of International rather than New Street. There's not really a more convenient major airport for Mid Wales than Birmingham.

Birmingham is not a turd! Well not all of it at least!
It's no different to any other large city in that it has some rough part but also some beautiful parts too and spouting this sort of nonsense does nothing to help the reputation of Birmingham.
Luckily Knighthead don't share your self deprecating opinion of Birmingham. They do indeed see the City as an attractive place to invest heavily into and the whole point of the stadium and it's prime location is to attract people from all over to it.
In 10 - 20 years time that area of the city will be totally transformed.
