I was told while in Portugal for pre-season (yes it might not be true) that an ex coach that left the club allegedly received 500k when Jude got transfered from the blues?
Are coaches employed directly or are they self employed?
They'll mostly be full time employees.
There's nothing wrong with a coach getting a bonus for a transfer. It happens all the time
Jude was out of contract. He could have gone for training compensation, but we got around £40m in the end..
If Speakman helped convince him to get Blues the £ it was £0.5m well spent.
In the lower league where clubs rely on transfer income it's very common for coaches and managers to be on a bonus for a transfer. Develop a player that is worth a lot to a club and you do well out of it.
There is a lot of money in football and coaches are often relatively poorly paid and they weren't always top players. I don't think it is a problem.
Where it can become a problem is if the interest is too big. Once a coach or a manger starts benefitting from transfers that don't benefit the club so much that is a problem If you sell a player for £3m and it could have been £10m next year, but the manger needed £200,000 now then that is a problem.
Someone doing what is good for the player and the club and also benefitting themselves isn't an issue. It's when the benefit becomes the main objective that problems start.
