I reckon by the time the stadium opens we will have gone up, come back down and then gone up again.

Obviously I’d prefer to go up asap but it would also be quite cool if we got promoted and the stadium opened the following season

Not Man U John, sides that win trophies the elite can compete in. Last season Man U couldn’t even win that cup the smaller and some unheard clubs in Europe play for.

Although tbf to Man U, they did at least play a side most had heard of in the final.

I'm looking forward to playing the dingles again. Obviously hate villa, not arsed about baggies. Coventry can eff off they're irrelevant to everyone in the midlands

I think WBA will be as irrelevant as Walsall in a couple of years

That doesnt see any of the other teams in the region as rivals anymore?

With the stadium development meaning we will have the biggest stadium in the region, the academy and training ground that will be one of he best in the UK if not Europe and hopefully a philospphy of having one of the best pathways for younger players I dont see little rivalries as important anymore. We will finally be better than that.

The club platforming itself at the top table, facing the very best and finally becoming the club it can be, thats more important than poxy little rivalies.

That's what I think too. First and foremost, we are competing with ourselves. Just how good can we be? Then we take our game to the opposition, and see how well we compare.

Although it's fun on match days when we play them, talking about Villa all the time makes us sound small minded and parochial.

Also, I am as much a fan of Birmingham City as I am the City of Birmingham.

In a broader sense, we want the city and wider region to have as many top tier teams as possible. It helps the economy and status of the region, and brings people here who would not otherwise come.

I think some of this stuff is getting a bit out of hand, look what Bournemouth have achieved without a big stadium or sports quarter.

Although I am interested to see what the SQ will look like as that is the most important bit of the project.

It is a good point you make about Bournemouth doing well without the super stadium, you can also add Brighton & Brentford who have new but small scale stadiums in comparison to the SQ plans.

I think all 3 teams will reach their ceiling soon, if they haven't already and when a club reaches its ceiling the danger is apathy setting in right across the club and what follows is a massive drop off - Burnley, Wolves, Albion, Stoke, Bolton, ourselves, Watford, Fulham (looks like it could be happening again with them) lots of other examples from the last 20 odd years of this happening.

I think the SQ can mean that we can take ourselves out of that bracket and create a much higher ceiling for the club but we will need the right people calling the shots, as we have seen recently a big stadium guarantees nothing. In my opinion we have some of those people at the club now, we will need to pick up more people like them along the way but i am confident in doing so.

It is all about money, if someone thought they could make a fortune at the Baggies they would soon be in the top 10 in the Premier league.

Modern top flight football has lost all its integrity, Liverpool, Manchester U, Arsenal all moan about tourist fans. West Ham are even worse, unsuitable ground for football.

I would much prefer local owners or supporter owned. Players who stay at a club for 10 years, Page, Pendrey etc

Yep, money is the motivation for investors.
If you offered me the 10 years Man City fans have just had i wouldn't care if the money came from the moon, it is nice that a byproduct of the investment in the club is regeneration of the local area that will benefit the community.
