How do you "amortise" wages? Surely wages are paid over the length of the contract anyway, you can only amortise the transfer fee across the contract?

A 4-year deal from Brighton, well though of in the England set-up and clearly considered to be a good goalkeeper by our manager and goalkeeping coach. I'm going to suggest he's probably a good goalkeeper who's only getting better.

He was not the right goalkeeper last year and in my opinion not right this season. He is young and will develop over years, but if you are going for it you do better than this. CD has made his bed and must now lye in it and we will see if he is right.

If you look at every statistical metric of James Beadle from 2.5 seasons in the championship - nothing indicates a decent keeper for this level.

I agree loaning is usually really beneficial (not what I said at all either) but it’s shortsighted because we end up back to square one with the goalkeeper position again next season.

I’m not saying he doesn’t have potential to be good. I’m saying right now he’s not necessarily at the level people are giving him credit for.

He’s going into his 3rd full season in the Championship. He needs to do some maturing and develop (which is fine!). But we can’t wear rose tinted glasses of him being a promising rookie because he’s not that. He needs to be assessed for what he’s proven with Championship experience to date.

He’s not well thought of in the England setup - that’s complete make believe. Look at England U21 keepers in the last 10 years and judge for yourself how many have become prem keepers let alone full internationals.

He has not been mentioned by Hurzeler for Brighton contention, he’s not been mentioned by any England coaching member about being considered for the England team.

These are assumptions people are making with no evidence out there to back either statement.

It’s hard to assess Rushworth - given the fee and PSR rules makes it almost impossible for them to turn that down. Plus Verbruggen is a great keeper and not old either.

We’re near the start of his career and like I say he could develop and he could become a prem goalkeeper maybe an England goalkeeper. But he would need to develop a lot to get there (which is true).

We need to view him for how he is rather than getting carried away with fever dreams of what he could be.

So he doesn’t reach the level of ‘decent’? Don’t get the logic of your response on loans. It’s the case they potentially never happen on that basis.

I don't get the stress over Beadle. We don't have endless money to spend and so have to manage finances accordingly. Beadle will knows the team, the defence, and will be better than last season, IMO.

They've sold Rushworth because they had Cov's pants down and he was unwilling to do another year pushed out on loan.

Yeah I suspect if someone came in with that money for Beadle they'd sell too.

Yes pure profit and by giving him a new deal they can sell him for more when the time comes. Don’t for a second think its because they think Beadle is better than Rushworth.

And stuck in a buy back clause in case they need him back.
