Kabongo Tshimanga

Any other bullets dodged come to mind? I recall this place meltdown down when the Tshimanga deal fell through.

Those two were both definitely legitimate deals we tried to get over the line late doors

BE turned us down a couple of times throughout the course of the day. Massive bullet dodged there.

McLeish tried to sign Robbie Keane but he went to West Ham in the end, and then Kenny Miller but couldn't agree terms, so we ended up with Obafemi Martins ...and the rest, as they say, is history!

Who was the bloke we nearly signed who was pictured with Redknapp before a pre-season game?

I might be misremembering this but I think Redknapp said in an interview he was a Blues player and then he disappeared for a few days only to turn up having signed for a club in Turkey?

That was Badu! I'm convinced he told Redknapp he'd sign just to get him to leave him alone.

Ghosted him after that and signed somewhere else

That's the one - cheers!

That summer with Redknapp in charge was mental. I remember us having Eddie Afonso on trial as well for a few weeks - a full-back playing in Angola.

Simeon Slavchev was on trial at the same time. Currently 32 and playing in the Bulgarian third division...
