I’ll just remind people that Hull got promoted last season. Wrexham finished above us.
Davies doesn’t have to be a miracle worker.

No he doesn't, but we have no divine right. I think Le Mod (as usual) has it right, we certainly can make the top 8, but so can more than 8 other clubs, CD is going to have to be near flawless, the players need to stay on form and fit, it all has to drop into place. Not having that fast bastard up front drops us more into the also rans than the dead certs.
No miracles required, do-able, but no gimme.

Davies doesn’t have to be anywhere near flawless. Because he’s not near flawless. The playoffs were achievable last year but our embarrassingly shit away form and last summers window combined, cost us that chance. Hopefully both have been addressed sufficiently this season.

I don't know about anyone else but I've found watching SHAers spending the whole summer discussing (on repeat) highly unlikely transfers and now going into autumn in a hissy fit because they didn't get what they wished for, highly amusing.

The best teams are built, not bought. It may take another 1 -3 years for us to have a serious stab at automatic promotion, get used to it.

Tell that to Knighthead mate, they want promotion NOW

Best owners we’ve ever had, who have left pretty much no stone unturned in trying to make us massive.

But I don’t think they understand the football side

They need to get someone in with the challenge of creating a proper football department that is in line with those clubs they are trying to emulate, and they need autonomy.

There are 4 or 5 squads that are clearly better, imo, and another 5 or so that are on par, Davies will have done a good job to get us top 8 and will have done a remarkable job to get us into a position where we don’t have to play the extra play off game

They may want promotion now, as do we all, but it will take an incredibly impressive managerial job and some big slices of luck to make that happen.

Regardless, I look forward to the rest of the season and hopefully beating those freaks on Sunday

I agree with you that they’re lacking on the football side; they’re heavily into data and analytics but I don’t think they’ve got enough quality in interpreting that data / analytics to a good enough standard.

How very fecking condescending

You would know, eh?
Explain rather than snide insults.
You’re criticising the owners ambition too not just mine.

‘Again, vague like a fortune teller or a horoscope. Take a dump or get off the shitter. Make a definitive statement or shut up and be measured against it but stop this bullshitting’
😉

I am not criticising the ambition per se. In fact, I am excited by a new stadium, the ambition to play Premier League all that. I just don't think you can achieve that by chugging money around. I don't agree with people who constantly whine about not spending money on exactly the players THEY think are sign-worthy. Building a (good) squad takes time. That's just an opinion as valid as yours is. And I think that a lot of people here think the same way but the wailing and screeching of the people who want everything now is a lot louder and more prominent.

Honestly, I share the ambition for the club but I still think that ol' Tommyboy created an expectation last season with his statement that are thoroughly unhelpful. I think Wagner is very accustomed to having things happening faster because of money but there are still some things where that just doesn't work. And being a bit more humble about it would do the whole club some good. Otherwise, we start being perceived as the noveau-rich loudmouths no one likes.

Maybe we can simply agree that most people here want the same; the season started largely positive and we both support this team. We just don't agree about the means.

Respect for taking the time to reply and respectfully and shouldn’t be a shock that I largely agree.
Just disagreed with the football manager type jibe and the ‘vocal’ slur.
I am one who wants every pound spent treated like it’s our last pound btw. Agree about the build a squad thing too and that’s why I’m so against signings like Robinson and Dykes. And those like Vicente if his wages are to be believed.

Fair play, just one thing.

Vocal is not a slur; let's not muddle serious personal attacks with a word I used to describe the (in my opinion) observable contingent of people who very vehemently start about three threads with their doom ****ering. Maybe keep in mind that even after 30 years English is my second language, and I sometimes use phrases and words you interpret differently. Nevermind that written communication often obscures nuances.

Also, we do disagree sometimes, I usually think you are one of the posters whose opinion interests me while others really are just annoying. Maybe don't take everything so personally when I speak about a more general group of people.

Ultimately, to come back to the topic, I really have not much to add to KH. I have misgivings and a natural mistrust of billionaires and venture capital types. That's what KH and TW are. I will never fully trust them. But they are the owners now, and SO FAR they have done a lot positive for the club I support. I still question their actual motives. In the end, they are in it for money. They do not care about football other than as a product. And if you accept this as likely true, it also makes sense why they constantly blunder on the footballing side of things. (Rooney, last season's summer transfer window)

What they should do is what several people have said already: bring more football people in and don't meddle with that. But the other extreme - shown in this very thread - that everything is a 'red flag' is a view I also don't share.

I did take the vocal slur personally and the football manager comment. Apologies if it wasn’t meant. I’m probably a little more defensive than usual after being called a shitbag, a liar, vile, an alcoholic and a few other things over the past few days on here and seeing those comments allowed to stay on here.
Like I said earlier, respect for your civil replies since.

We all have good and bad days. We should give each other more grace. .... apart from fascists. I do not play friendly with fascists or 'try to see their point of view'.

And heck, if anyone here should ever find themselves near Frankfurt and there is a Blues game on, I am always up for a pint (alcoholic or not) to chat Blues. Most people around here who care about English/British football are ManU or Arsenal fans and that's effing boring. I am quite sociable and I promise sometimes I am even funny.

You want a KH red flag?

[find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk]

As of right now, the Shelby Companies Limited (SCL) accounts are over two months overdue. For those who are unsure, SCL is the investment company through which KH own Blues, St Andrew’s etc.

I asked about this about a month ago and got brushed off with a throwaway “we’re busy it’s fine” comment.

I don’t think it’s evidence they’re going bust or anything like that but the optics are shit and getting worse. It’s not like there aren’t fairly easy ways to extend the time needed to file accounts either.

I’d like that resolved personally.

As weve discussed, there are many aspects of the club that still need a lot of work. Simply put, some things arent good enough. Its ok also that there is a realistic expectation setting, these things take time. However, in instances such as this, its both alarming and lacking where one may think, we need to get our sh^t in order.
