I wonder how lengthy the waiting list would be if, say, you put a £50/£60 charge at the start of the season almost as a deposit?

That money could be used to buy discounted match to match tickets over a season but only at a max of £5 per game, meaning you'd only make said deposit back if you went to 10/12 games a season.

Not saying it is something the club should necessarily be doing, but you may then get a "truer" idea of how big the waiting list is of people really desperate for an ST right now and those who have put their name down in the hope of being at the front of the queue for an ST when the new gaff is built.

If you want to stay on the waiting list you should have to buy tickets for a certain number of games per season

You do...

I don't think you do, do you?

I know the club prioritises those who have done most games that season for an ST for the next one, but I don't think there's a minimum requirement to stay on the waiting list?

Yes you do...
From this year's ST launch:

Season ticket waitlist members
Following the renewal deadline on Sunday 31 May, any seats not renewed may become available to supporters currently registered on the Season Ticket Waitlist.
The Season Ticket Waitlist will also return for the 2026/27 campaign, with supporters encouraged to register their interest for future opportunities, including priority access to seats at the new Powerhouse stadium from 2030/31.
Please note, supporters currently on the waiting list who have not attended a game during the 2025/26 season will be removed and required to rejoin.

Fair enough.

If you don't do one even game over a whole season I think it's fair to say you ain't really that arsed about an ST.

One reason why some people don't go to games on general sale is because they want to go with their mates/family/etc.

If someone has two mates with great seats in the Kop they might sign up to the ST waiting list thinking they'll one day join them.

When general sale comes around, they might be looking at sitting on their own in the GMU or the main stand, or getting a £35+ ticket on their own in row 6 in the rain.

That sort of thing puts people off going casually. They want to support their team but also spend time with their pals.

We have a stadium with different price points but also different experiences depending on where you sit.

I think it is a genuine question from the poster. I've been on here for over two years, and season ticket holder for 30+ years, so hope I qualify to answer.

Again it is the communication from the club. When you announce what they did around ST attending games and then 2,500 seat are empty at what was an A grade game, I think people have the right to question, the clubs stance.

Many around me last night where commenting on the empty seats and in hospitality, so it is not isolated.

Why not question the ST holders at the next game why they weren't there last night ?

Perhaps if the people on the waiting list had been offered the seats at the knockdown costs that ST holders get them then they may have gone .. ie around £16 to £20 a game

When i was a season ticket holder i detested the entitlement that many other ST holders had towards non-ST holders ... seems like little has changed

What? Everyone who is a season ticket holder around by me and they were all there last night, some guy who is in his 80's travels by train a round trip of two/three hours, and midweek at that.

A high proportion of the 14,000 who can't get off their arses because it is on the tv and put money into the club, those are the ones I suggest who are entitled, picking and choosing when to support with their wallets and dependent on how successful the team is.

The club cant sell the tickets on the exchange they should have just left alone and let people pass their ticket to whoever they wanted if they couldn't make it....they would get more through the door that way just like last season

No there's not .... apart from a regular seat, less hassle getting a ticket game by game and sitting with friends and family......... to raise the maximum revenue for the club all current STs should be voided and then auctioned off to the 20,000 highest bidders.

We should also ban for life all the ST holders who post racist shit on t'internet .... so much for our "no room for racism in football or the community" pledge
