Thought it might be worth touching on how much more settled into Championship life he looks. I wonder if the forced lay off has done him so good, just in terms of fitness.

Been quietly excellent so far this season; I feel like he’s learning how to compensate for his lack of pace and his delivery has been top.

I never thought there was much wrong with him in the first place to be honest.

He's an excellent player, reliable, with pace as his flaw. But his delivery IMO makes up for it.

We're stronger with him than without and Lund (if he's a LB) is gonna struggle to take his place.

But I think Lund may be used as one of those versatile players myself, if and when he's up to speed.

Since CD has told defenders to defend, he's looked very good. Top of big chances created in the entire champ at the moment.

His delivery is absolutely outstanding.

Maybe the slight lack of pace against the very quickest wingers, but overall I think he's always been great for us.

Only game I really remember him getting rinsed during his time at Blues is Cov away. Sakamoto destroyed him that day.

Improvements across the defence helped as well.
This time a year ago, Allsop was still first choice and Neumann was looking like he was scared of contact, with the ball or opposing players. If Cochrane got beaten for pace (and he did a couple of times), it was much more likely to end in a goal than I think it is now.

The effort he shown before putting in a near perfect cross to Stansfield last night was wonderful

He's looked fantastic so far this season, revitalised and a real danger going forward. His delivery is excellent generally and he contained a very good winger in Fellows last night.

Now that we actually have more than one fit LB we won't run him into the ground this season.

This is exactly the reaction you want from players when adding competition for places, well done Alex and long may it continue.

Yeah, Southampton and Stoke he struggled.

But it doesn't make him a bad player and never did.

Early last season people were saying stuff like "Yeah - but he struggles against really quick wingers...he's susceptible to pace" and stuff like that. But those are obviousisms. Pretty much any full-back - or any defender for that matter, will get done by real pace.

Generally he has been a really good and consistent player for us - both in League One and The Championship.

He might not be the best left-back we have ever had, obviously that was the legendary Martin Grainger...but he's a good 'un.
