The old layout for quotes was certainly much easier to follow.
I think it would be better if quotes were automatically trimmed to just show what was written by the person to whom you're replying; we don't need the whole thread history to be repeated every time.
Holdsworth_MaraSonnerThanks Tandy. Despite you and Chris being similar ages, youโre more mature and thoughtful. I worry about the crowd he hangs out with.
Those bigwig London financial types are changing me, sad to see.
ChrisRadavisBluetea1ChrisPearlyDewdropsDroopsHoldsworth_MaraSonnerNot an issue but more of a request. Is there a way of disabling quoting of posts when the number of lines being quoted crosses a certain threshold, pls? Some threads are a bit unreadable as people quote each other repeatedly. Cheers.
On a similar but different note, when a certain thread starts to affect the display on tablets (iPad in my case, no idea if it affect other devices), can it be closed and an addendum thread started please? No idea when it happens, but I think itโs somewhere around 400 posts.
Needless to say it only happens when the more needy posters get involved.
No names, no pack drill ๐
I agree with the OP and being against pointless quoting
Seconded
Full quoting is very annoying.
This
Thirded
This would also stop AnE doing unfunny alterations to other people's posts when he quotes them.
I am in full support.

This is fine,
What i would object to is no part of the quote being included at all - most the dimwits on the site blame the wrong person for what it is they are replying to.
Sorry.
You just apologised to the wrong person
Some other forums just show the first couple of lines of the quoted post with the rest hidden (but with a button to unhide the full quote). This enables you to see the context of the subsequent post but prevents the thread becoming just a back and forth of huge quoted text.
Whilst we are at it, we should also prevent people just posting "this" with no other additional input ๐
