Could we have this re-opened as an ongoing thread?

People were supporting, encouraging and updating each other on doing healthy stuff

Cheers

The thread is still there; just checked; last post 7th October, so I'm not quite sure what you mean by an 'ongoing thread'
If you mean should it be a sticky on the home page, I'd second that.
We did have a separate 'Friends in Need' forum which ran for a few months (I think) but didn't really get a lot of attention. I reckon if we had a general health and well being forum, to include different ongoing threads such as SHA runners, diet stuff, mental health, etc, it might prove quite popular.

Sorry, mate, yes, you're right. It's only been dormant for 9 days- do threads normally get closed that quickly? Certainly worth a sticky at least imo.

I think Andy may have closed it as it was getting too unwieldy for people who use threaded view. But that's only a guess. Hopefully he'll give a definite answer when he sees this.

No it auto closes after 7 days inactivity. When you reopen it some needs to post on it to reset the timer.

Welcome to 2026, runners. First one back today after a lazy festive period. It's like an ice rink out there, be careful. Might book a race for the coming months as a target - how we all feeling?

I havent run yet in 2026 but did my last one on NYE with my daughter. I've been press ganged into doing the Birmingham Half in May with a couple of mates who dont run so I'm there to help them train and get them through it but i wont be pushing for a good time, I'll be rattling the charidee tin nearer the time as my mate is raising money for acorns and a child bereavement charity that have done a lot for him and his family over the years.

i really want to do an ultra again this year but not sure I'm going to have the time to train.

I did notice that DM is doing the spine race in February 😮 the fecking mentalist!!!

I'm really happy this has reopened as i'm due to start running again soon after going to get the Gait analysis in Lichfield next week.

I've been running in Nike Zoom Fly 3 for 5 years which has really helped my performance but treating myself to something new this month with the aim to acheive a sub 1:50 in the Birmingham half.

Also getting married in August so aiming to shed a lot of weight.
