My upvote downvote isn’t working

Any idea why?

It’s been like this a couple of weeks

You’ve been banned from voting

Same here.

I had no particularly strong voting patterns (up or down) and probably only used it a few times.

Generally, I used to only upvote or downvote bullying or racism.

Bit odd!

Think it may be a technical thing, as sometimes I can vote with no issue, sometimes it just doesn't respond (and that is across devices).

I don't know any details of this particular instance

... but i do know that Andy can see every single upvote/downvote that anyne has made, when it was made and who it was made for/against.

He told me some time ago that if you continually voted for/against the same person then your vote would lose effectiveness ... ie if i voted Rasputin, as a random example, down every post then my downvote would automatically begin to count as half a downvote and if it continued a third of a downvote etc.

Since then he may have decided that if there was a continual pattern in someone's voting habits of upvoting or downvoting hte same person rather than it being even-handed that the voting facility was withdrawn fro that person.

As previously stated .. he's the only person who can answer questions about the voting algorithm and facility. Afterall, he owns and codes the whole site

PS ... votes on the Politics Forum don't count towards anyone's totals

god, that just seems all to be unnecessarily convoluted and messy.

Better to just get rid tbh.

Not messy and convoluted at all if you code it into the system so that it happens automatically.

Have a look at the Reputation League thing .... then looks at the figures and proportions of a persons upvotes to downvotes and their position ... and it should be obvious that not every vote cast is equal

PS ... i've heard that if you catch someone downvoting you and get everyone to surround them and protest and argue and wave their arms around then the voter will change their decision
