number8The new investors can already change the name and colours. The power has changed hands. Wont be long before the ECB sell up the other 51%, with probably a contingent percentage of future income to go back to them to be distributed.
The 49% was the ECB's whole stake.
number8I honestly think it'll become a totally different beast. Now they have private franchises, there's no need to worry about all 18 counties.
Sorry I meant the format will stay as 100 rather than Twenty20 but yeah I do think they’ll make it a different beast to what’s gone before.
All of a sudden the ECB don’t look quite as stupid as some were making out.
number8It will go to 10 teams max. This is the start of a proper franchise tournament.
Yeah the only way it would expand more would be internationally I would have thought.
The first piece of the Birmingham sporting puzzle. That Guardian article id interesting with the mention that Mumbai Indians have a MLC team. It wouldn’t surprise me to see Knighthead go down a similar route.
Yeah, admittedly I'm an incredibly casual cricket viewer at best. But that feels way over the odds.
Be intrested to know why people more clued up than myself think they've valued it so high.
For 49%
With Edgbaston owning the other 51% of the franchise
Its not a great product so would be interested to know what Knightheads motivation is with this other than 'to make money'
A billion Indian eyeballs for a start?

2 billion 😉
The influence is worth every penny
Piece by piece they want all the main attractions in the city
Bums in seats, bums on seats
I'm biased on this one, but it wouldn't take a lot on a relative basis to get Birmingham Moseley into the Premiership, or the Premiership 2/ Championship on the rugby side. Both men's and womens. Link it to the Uni ( which has just started) and get Birmingham into the BUCS super league for some Friday Night Lights.
I'd love to see a proper Jon Pegg or Mccracken led Birmingham boxing set up too.
Tennis/Padel at Edgbaston with golf down the road too.

Possibly but wouldn't be cheap, all the MLC teams are already owned, mostly by IPL franchises,
i don't see how the hundred will ever work when the counties play one day games at the same time the 100 teams play games and by that i mean glamordan play one day games at the same time as the fire on more than one occassion last year. Its too fractured a season.
It won't matter. The Ambanis and Knighthead won't give an eff about what the other county sides are up to.
Cricket is played at the same time as the BBL and IPL....it doesn't seem to be an issue there.

It's pretty much the reason why the ECB needed to sell their stake.
To make it financially viable you have to divorce the governance of the grass roots game to a league where decisions can be made for the good of growing the league as a commercial entity in it's own right. The old school will probably hate it, as they'll effectively be in competition and probably lose.
I was always told that the Hundred was reduced down from T20 to ensure the timings for the TV rights and specifically free to air.
First thing they now need to do is get rid of that awful orange kit.
The two Toms plus Jeremy Dale and Craigy sat with the fans drinking beer for the first home game.
A pop up Blues merchandise store at the ground.
Most cricket fans don't give a stuff about the 100 including me
If it ADDS to the sport all well and good but the same players in an endless franchise circus is guff to me
Edgbaston as a stadium needs it to work, Warwickshire really are a middling county of the 18 never really been a big county like Lancs/Surrey/Yorks even Notts but punched above their weight especially in the glory days 1990's a bit like Essex punched above their weight in the 1980's and more recently. Warks have the test ground though so bonus for them takes them above similar middling counties like Somerset, Glammy and Durham
I's be quite happy if the IPL ran the 100 show and proper cricket sat behind it, played at outgrounds more often through the summer months with a schedule more or less like it was 15 years ago 2 divisions of 9. As it is today I'm really having to think hard whether a membership is worth it with all the fixtures so early in the season i'll be at Blues for some of them its a shame but I might not be able to justify it as I can only really stomach a couple of T20's per season
The 9th crisp packet team will be another London team if they can make London stadium work for Essex or if Kent develop Beckenham, makes more sense and far more value than Durham/Somerset

I think this is the point. If the IPL owners are involved it will become a cash machine.
