RasputinThe franchise tournaments in other countries aren't competing with t20, 50 over and four day games though are they?
The dumbdred and the bash step on each others toes in England, to the detriment of the traditional forms of the game.
If the ECB want to push the dumbdred, then it needs to drop the bash.
Why do you insist on giving silly names to things. You’re not the market and I think you’re being an idiot.
RasputinOk, that was what I was questioning.
You did not question, you said they didn’t without researching it.
madThese are serious long term players but I think Welsh Dire may well be the franchise that is most likely to be moved about
It'll take them 20+ years to make that sort of money back even at Lord's but those sort of companies desire fabric and history they don't currently possess. They seek a foothold and legitimacy. But it's a poxy format so they'll soon find out there is a ceiling. They'll need to stage proper first class cricket matches to attain what they really really want
If the incumbents do not feel inclined to grow beyond 8 teams they might sanction one of the smaller peripheral entities (the Welsh one most obviously) a move
The people spending tens of millions know more than you do.
You would think so. Seems quite risky at the moment?
RasputinA 'welsh'cricket team that two of the three historic counties it is meant to represent are English.
Which sums up the dumbdred tbh - why would anyone in that region be remotely interested in supporting them??
Imbecile.
Lovely insult champ.
But explain to me why a supporter of Somerset or Gloucestershire should support Welsh Fire?
Region really, south west so would be the closest franchise
I’m not saying that they would automatically support them but that’s a fair rationale
That's the rationale of someone who simply does not understand Wales or the Bristol region.
But I expect that is not high on the list if those that indulge thedumbdred...
Seems a bit of an unnecessarily rude reply Rapsutin

They know more than me about why they spent that money. Perhaps you know more than them about why they spent it, in which case fair play.

I actually think it works quite well, the bash last season gave opportunities to plenty of young players coming through.
...£58Million for Manchester Originals. 😤
Probably about right but they have got very lucky. Similar to what Knighthead want with our new stadium, Old Trafford has those fab transit links and of course the prestige/historic name of the stadium and proximity to Man Utd but their offer within the actual crisp packet comp is no greater than the Brum franchise so perhaps Knighthead can be seen to have got a steal here. This is a comp after all where all 8 franchise teams are about the same size. I've likened it to having eight fecking Hampshire sized franchises. Or maybe 7 plus tiny Cardiff. Cardiff will be moved to Taunton probably unless they start motoring
Yorkshire's valuation will be interesting I've predicted they'd be just above Cardiff, probably the worst test ground now in terms of facilities, smallish, hemmed in a bit but there is all that history there I actually love going there pubs nearby etc they had all those issues recently so perhaps their offer to investors won't be so strong as the other test grounds. Not actually being called Yorkshire might cost them too. They do have the crappiest name of the 8
These valuations are nuts! £295m for London Spirit... 😲
I'd love to see the forecasts that drive these valuations given (I assume) these are all non-controlling interests.
I'm fascinated to see how this all plays out. Anybody for a global tour?
