There's too much opinion and not enough fact.

I imagine they want to change the format to T20 for starters...

You think?

Depending on how many yank owners are involved I can see it being simplified or changed even further as something like:

- 100 balls
- 10 x 10 ball overs
- Simplification or even removal of LBW and other things which are complicated to people who don't know the sport.
- Up sixes to 8 runs to encourage riskier shots

They'll want to make the game as unique, fast paced, high scoring, marketable, and TV viewer friendly as possible.

Having things like 20 sets of these things called 'overs' is not going to wash in a new market they're trying to break into, like the States.

Imagine trying to explain to an American that the batter is out if the ball hits batter's body if he is in line with the sticks in the ground and the ball also bounced in line with, or on the bat side of, the sticks... unless the batter isn't playing a shot in which case the ball can bounce anywhere... but all of that applied only if the ball has also hit the batter low enough that it also wouldn't go on to miss the sticks for being too high.

If theyro one bounce one hand catches i'm in.

I think there is a real chance of bonus points coming in - move to 3/4 points for a win, then a bonus point something like for hitting x many 6s, getting a run rate of over 0.7 etc

I don't think breaking into the US requires much simplification, they love complex sports. And statistics - as many as possible.

Their sports are complicated to play, but as the viewer I think they're very easy to digest and follow even if you don't know the rules.

Bonus points for things like run rate again just make it needlessly complicated IMO.

50% of the teams are due to get investment from IPL owners so they will want T20, Welsh Fire aren't in that 50% but their investors have already said it should be T20.

i really dont think they will change that format to something else new given one of the biggest 100 criticisms is that its not T20.

plus the MLC in America is T20 and i haven't seen any changes/simplification mooted for that.

but i doubt thats part of Wagner's negotiations, thats bigger than any single team investment.

I'm not sure that is true of baseball in particular - possibly true enough for American football though, as a lot of the complexity is managed by the teams or only comes up in particular circumstances and they do explain it well.

It's the IPL influence that will drive it to T20 - they want a top level league here and the Blast isn't it. Turn the Hundred into a T20 franchise league during August and get the absolute best over here and the revenue will rocket.

i reckon the more likely conflict between Wagner and Bears is Edgbaston vs Sports Quarter
15:23, Mon 9 Jun
Don't think they will move Phoenix, I know they have loads of land but I don't think they'd want to build a cricket pitch/arena as well. Edgbaston is one of the best cricket stadia around.

I think is does seem unlikely - they're planning the 62k stadium, a small show stadium for the academy/ women and an arena. I can't see them wanting to make the compromises needed to allow cricket at one of them, or to also build a 25k plus cricket ground which is then not used most of the time.
16:25, Mon 9 Jun
They can’t move the cricket, they’d lose a 3rd of its support
16:31, Mon 9 Jun
Yeah I can't imagine it would be viable at all to move the cricket. They'll ultimately partly use the Phoenix to cross market the Sports Quarter and its events presumably
Happy Clapper

Wagner going to push for the Edgbaston tram line to be extended to near the cricket ground? 👀
