My prediction on the Indian bowling has been scarily accurate in both matches so far. Very weird that Kuldeep isn’t playing.

Both attacks are weak.

Kuldeep would be a huge point of difference, he'd have been ace on this surface, but I guess they're worried about the length of the tail.

I agree, but I also think he's playing so well at 7, why change it. It's just a vital position, as he is showing today

Adam Gilchrist played this role for years, and it's very unsettling for the opposition knowing that even at 5 down there is someone coming to the wicket who can be devastating on the counter-attack.

What we're lacking is a really good number 3, although Pope has done 'ok'.

What a strange day. Incredible 300 partnership, and either side absolute rubbish

Nip 3 out tonight and we're in this.

Interesting the way they analysed how he is falling over when getting out. He needs to realign or every bowler on the planet is going to put that line on him and wait.

He gets away with it when he's 'in' because he's got a fabulous eye.

It's feast or famine.

He ain't getting in very often against really good bowlers though, because they know this.

So you can review even after you've run out of time?

Blimey.

Good job he was out or that would have been a problem.
18:14, Fri 4 Jul
Surely the 3rd umpire should just say 'time was up'?

You'd think wouldnt you? It had definitely gone to zero. Umpire bottled it.
18:53, Fri 4 Jul
effing disgrace to be honest with you. Some quite agitated fans as a result too

Weak umpiring
18:59, Fri 4 Jul
It should be the 3rd umpire's responsibility, along with checking for fair delivery, etc.

It should be nothing to do with the on-field umpires as they don't start the clock.

Part of the review process. Was it in time, was it a fair delivery, etc., etc. ...
There's too much opinion and not enough fact.

Yes by umpiring I meant the collective

It’s poor. Theres no reason why the 3rd umpire or any other official can’t watch the clock then speak into the earpieces

Stoakes would’ve lost it if if was too high and rightly so

Bold comment from Raj when India have just bowled us out for 180 or so fewer…..

For MBH and others, contrast and compare the performance of Bashir with the collective one of the Indian spinners, including world class alll rounder Jadeja.

Jadeja and bashir are incomparable, again my view on bashir isn’t based on this test alone.

Just over this series he’s on an average of 86 or something like that, all four of his wickets are from batsman trying to slog him. I just don’t think he’s good enough to be our main spinner, you do seemingly which is fine.

Jadeja if he’s not contributing as much with the ball, at least has other qualities least not with the bat so I can’t compare them, not to mention he’s an exceptional fielder. Bashir cant bat nor field particularly well. It’s apples and oranges.

Jadeja has a bowling average of 24, bashir 37

As I’ve said, get Dawson on side, bashir may come good but the test area shouldn’t be used to blood /gamble on someone he should in my opinion play more championship cricket, at the moment he’s played half as many tests as he has first class games, to me that’s a bit bonkers considering his fc average is high 40s

I know you’ll say stokes doesn’t think so that’s fine but he’s not perfect or beyond questioning
