For the next test

Interesting the vice captain has been overlooked, but suppose you can’t bench the current captain over a nightclub captain and give it to Brook..

Root is a smart choice as an emergency safe pair of hands.

There really does need to be a culture shift though, it's embarrassing.

On the basis of what we know, is it "embarrassing"?

To who?

Man and other man go for a late night drink with no sporting fixture for 10 solid days. Presumably celebrating a good win.

Little Saracens kid misses a punch and hits security gonk.

Man and other man go home.

Yeah, burn 'em at the stake.

Any shouts on here for Ducksch to be immediately barred from the team after he nearly killed three people?

Says to me it’s a storm in a teacup and stokes will be back once the investigation is over , I think.

On the face of it sounds a bit of a storm in a teacup but the difference is they are professional sportsmen who are in the spotlight and under a curfew because of a drinking culture that the ECB are trying to stamp out.

Why on earth would Stokes and Atkinson take such a risk for the sake of a few extra drinks I don’t know but it’s cost them big style.

Not just the once is it? There's a culture of boozing. They've just had months off where they could all go out as much as they wanted.

And I absolutely condemned Ducksch as soon as that news broke.

they've given it to the safe pair of hands Joe Root who got smacked in a nightclub incident with the opposition a few years back :)

I just don't mind it, frankly. Didnt do the Forest 79/80 sides any harm

If someone swings one for me after I walk out my front door, it's not my fault.

I think his position as captain is untenable, but i hope he comes back.

Ordinarily I'd agree, and morally hat's probably correct, but who knows under Key and McCullum? It's their culture that they've fostered, if Stokes is untenable then so are they frankly.

I don't think Stokes gets in the team unless he's the captain, never mind the fact that it would be very tough for any new captain if Stokes continued - never mind that there is no anywhere near obvious replacement. All a bit of a mess.

I think Stokes is worth his place as a player and don’t think it should present too much of a problem fora new captain. If Brook isn't deemed good enough, clever enough or trustworthy enough and Root doesn't want it, theres a bit of an issue.

Maybe bring Burns back in and hope he finds some form.

Jordan Cox coming into the side apparently.

Stokes batting has been woeful for years. Maybe not being captain would help that. Would he even want to?

Ben Duckett has a fantastic cricket brain, and if he were scoring more runs the job would/should be his.
There's too much opinion and not enough fact.
