Feel a bit sorry for brought some incredible, thrilling cricket before it went tits up. Shame to end it so sourly.

I think it's probably inevitable after the Ashes debacle and then the New Zealand loss.

You're right though. I can't think of a more entertaining period to watch the England Test team than the last 4 years.

It's going to be tough now though, to get a new captain and a coach appointed at the same time. Unless it all comes from within the current camp.

Would be madness if they haven’t already got someone lined up. Has Andy Flower got much on?

Seen rumblings of Langer, can't see it but that would be some shift if it happened.

I really enjoyed 2005 ashes, 2009 - 2013 was an incredible period too, spanking the Aussies 3 times on the trot, becoming number 1 test team too

McCullum did well for a short period to rejuvenate us, but the chaos the style brings was never going to be sustainable

It was a summer fling that turned into a unstable marriage

Wasn’t that short really. Stokes has had a fair stint under him as skipper and the record is pretty decent - gone off the cliff this last 6-8 months is course.

I think it was time.

I'd have made the change after the Ashes, mind.

I dunno how key keeps getting away with it. He must be on borrowed time.

Langer was who I’ve wanted since the ashes. Would be box office. And exactly what the young talented players like bethell and brook need.

We did have some great results but there’s been some honking ones too, even going back longer than 2 years ago couple of years ago, India slaughtered us, we lost a series to Pakistan and the away ashes was abysmal

I’ve never been against aggressive cricket but the players and McCollum seemed to lose any sort of responsibility against losing because it was fun

Not sure thats for me, sport at that level is about winning

Should’ve gone after the ashes really

After the Ashes debacle would have been more sensible. I think we’ve drifted in to this summer without clarity while the captain was clearly
thinking he’d had enough. It would be really interesting to get the players view of all this. And we shouldn’t forget we were in a mess previous this regime and losing more badly.

Our record improved a lot and we’ve had some of the best cricket I’ve ever seen under him. The sad Ashes one to lose (or not win) was that last 2-2 series at home. I thought we were the better team in that.
