Funny they announce this the day the advert goes out for a football regulator. Trying to rush it through before someone competent can tell them to do one.
mjd2505Fine with them scrapping replays, only if they enforced a rule where the lower league side can request to play at home if drawn away.
Would give flexibility that way. Want the big away day? You got it. Need the home income from drawing a giant? You got it.
Seems like they haven't done that though, so not happy with it
Small clubs always want to play big sides away as somebody else said the gate receipts are split 50/50 so small clubs make a fortune playing clubs like United. Thats why small clubs are always buzzing when they draw the big teams away
EFL just announced they're looking for 'compensation' for this.
yea just read that they weren't consulted which seems crazy
FA and Premier League making decisions that affect 100s of clubs but only consulting 20 of them.
Replying to no 8
If clubs are relying on cup draws to keep them afloat, they need to sort out their financing.
That could have been us when we were under the previous ownership.
The actual clubs can’t do much about shitty owners who have zero clue about finance.🤷🏻♂️
Surely the more sensible thing would be to give clubs the option to decide between themselves if they want a replay or extra time, if the result is a draw.
That way Blues don't have to play Blackburn 4 times a season and the little lads might get an opportunity of a replay against Man United if they manage to get a draw.
I would just make the League Cup EFL only. That would reduce games.

I am sure a lot of the supporters of small clubs would prefer to play away. A game at Man U, Man C, Spurs, Arsenal etc.
number8No clubs are going to agree to a replay.
I probably didn't explain it very well. If one club asks for a replay then it should be a replay.
That's just putting one club over another, would still not work.
How many times a year do teams pull these big games that save them? Once every 4 or 5 years? It's a myth.
And if they have poor owners, then a cup game v Man Utd ressers isn't going to save them - more likely the bad owners take more money out.
Its the 21st century, things change, the game is different now. I'd much rather go to a cup game knowing its win or bust rather than one team maybe hanging on just to do the same again 3 days later.
Still not gonna work when you have prem or championship teams who dont want the games.
We regularly throw cup matches because "the league is what matters", dont see many complaining on here when we field a bunch of kids in a cup we won not long ago.
But the FA up isn't all about the Premier league and Championship clubs.
If they make it a 6th or 7th tier team getting a league two side in the first round proper can be a very nice little earner for them and more importantly a nice day out for their fans.
