A scarecrow planted somewhere on the edge of our area will provide as much defensive security as thick Harlee

He's the best out of the 3 centre halves though

I think it's a bit premature to be starting with that kind of thing Bob. Stupid sending off, but he looks promising for when we are in the ascendancy again

God knows what you make of Morrison and Roberts then if you think Dean is not very good.

Dean is the best of a mediocre bunch IMO. Shotton was better but, like Dean, apt to make the odd critical error. I was warming to Dean, especially as he is the only one who is confident/prepared to carry the ball forward or play through the midfield. However, his lack of concentration/awareness for the 1st goal on Monday + two needless yellows has made me question him. I just hope he learns from those misdemeanors.

Poor players often play better in a good team, but the ragged/unbalanced/ill-disciplined squad that we have is making most of them play way below par. A clear-out in Jan will be a big help.

Shotton can barely get into Boro's development squad.

Dean is fine. Good on the ball, throws his body into blocks, decent in the air. I'd say Dean and Colin, when fit, are the only part of the back four I wouldn't change.

We still need a proper left centre back and left back, but our recruitment has been crap for years. From Rowett to Cotterill, non of them have really highlighted the weak points in the team and it isn't helped by Vetere and Dein having no idea what they're doing.

Completely agree with that.

Dean is completely fine and will be better in a settled team, he can actually play football too which helps in the back 3.

Stockdale
Colin
Dean
Kieftenbeld
Boga
Adams
Gallagher

Those are the players we should build the side around from January and get some quality alongside them.

I'd argue that none of these players are as bad as they look right now. What they need is a manager with a plan and a manger who instills confidence.

We spent £300k on Shotton and Morrison.

We spent £7m on Dean and Roberts

Funny old game....

How thick is Dean? Classic case off wanting to show fans how committed he was by breaking the rules. Roberts should have went off in first half and that huge wolves defender as well.

When we sit 10 players behind the ball and get barely out of our own half how do we expect the likes of Boga and Jota to have any joy?

If we're playing with a back 3 and additional wing backs, we should play higher up the pitch as we have that defensive protection. Cotterill makes sure we are as deep as possible though - and even then it's the long ball up to the attackers as non of the centre mids are capable to build attacks through the middle on the ground.

Not too sure about that. There were a good number of times he ran back and broke up a Wolves attack. Although that probably meant he wasn’t then able to be ready for any kind of counter attack.

Storer got himself sent off with a moment of idiocy

So did Harlee Dean, however Storer is a kid from Druids Heath, Harlee Dean has been a professional footballer for 8 years

Jota has had no more impact than Novak had with us. Both negligible impact on the side. Jota WAS a good player last season - I think 11 or 12 goals and a similar amount of assists. In 10 games for us, no goals & no assists, and so useless against his former club that he was subbed after barely an hour. It's a mystery to me as to how he could become so useless in such a short space of time. Takes some doing.
