Why are so many pubs asking for bookings tomorrow? I had no issue getting in somewhere on Friday.

Absolutely ridiculous

Perhaps they anticipate that they're going to be full so don't want to disappoint some people

Yeah, JBS is in Leeds at the moment & he & his mates (8 of them) couldn't get into any of their usual pubs so ended up watching at one of their houses. The pubs were just rammed so booking in advance make sense for all.

I've found somewhere now. Still had too book though. I'm watching a game of football. Not going for a meal.

A huge amount of other people want to go to the pub to watch the game too, hence the booking.
Tell you what that crack is really moreish.

Look on the positive side .. having to book (and booking), however much it pisses you off, isn't going to be half as bad as turning up at pubs and not being allowed in

Here, it’s so that places know how many staff they’ll need. Hospitality have had such a tough, up and down couple of years. Be kind to them

Drawbridge in Shirley was totally
booked up on Friday, standing room only. But they did lay on burgers etc so fair play to them. He needed some figures so knew how many staff were required. Doing the same tomorrow.

My local wants bookings as they had trouble and therefore by taking bookings they have contact details for people there should there be any bother
