Any one who loves watching or taking part in extreme sports then get to Coopers Hill on Monday.
Most things these days you have to pay to watch or need to pay to participate and need expensive protective gear, well not at the cheese rolling. Free to watch and free to enter, just turn up and chuck yourself off the top.
This year even more of a free for all as NO police, fire or ambulance in attendance. Been going for hundreds and hundreds of years and with good weather on Monday its gonna be rammed.
Unless you stand at the top and look down its difficult to explain what its like to throw yourself of a 2:1 uneven gradient hill. It is just a few mins from my house so may pop along for a look at the crazies in action.
I did it back in the 80s and it was painful, very painful as once you flip over you are totally out of control and its pure luck how you finish. A mate in the same race as me broke his ankle and another his wrist and were in plaster most of the summer. The local rugby team form a line at the bottom and kill any speed you have left stone dead.
Oh yeah and if you are first down you win the cheese. First Race 12 noon
3 men's downhill races, 1 Ladies downhill, 2 children's Different age groups uphill races and one Adult Uphill race
if you are first down you win the cheese.
I think I will go to a shop and buy my cheese, it's safer.

A cheese wheel won will taste a thousand times more glorious!
that hill is difficult to walk (crawl )up let alone run down but on the positive side i went to school with a lovely young lady who lived at the bottom of the hill who was my first ever crush......lol
No ambulance and a chance you could break your neck, what could go wrong 😝

The Morris dancers are over there mate --->>

As popular as ever up the hill today.
They are posting Videos on the FB page and no doubt loads will be on YT later as well.
No serious injuries so far, possibly because it is so dry/hard and some are taking it a little easier.
