Is it fitness? Half the bastards looked knackered in the first half, little wonder they seemed to lack energy as the game progressed.

Still, after two defeats a point is OK, reduces the risk of confidence being eroded and John 'DvB' Useless going ultra defensive.

Someone said the other day it’s all rather reminiscent of a season under Monk, where we we played well for weeks without getting our just desserts then BOOM. Well bookish anyway.

I don’t think we look half as dangerous as we did under Mink that season.

First game you've watched in 5 years then? We've literally played better this season.

I don't watch every game.

I thought we played well tonight, if we've played better this season then that is a good thing!
The cold never bothered me anyway

8 games in, what’s our style of play?

The first 70mins were as good as I've seen them play for about five years. Go to bed mate.

we played better Tuesday

Picture the scene after the match, there's John 'DvB' Useless, chatting with Garry Cooke & Tom Wagner...

"How did you think we played today, John?"

The way i see it is this. We need a cf who has pace a
& tenacity the confidence of youth & the ability to score from a half chance?? Someone like Jay stansfield would be good.
When this cf tires or needs subbing we need someone who probably doesn’t have the confidence but can finish on his day when the pressure is off & has enough pace to press & worry tiring defenders.. someone like scott hogan.
If Hogan isn’t fit or we need to go direct then we have Juke. I love Juke for what he’s done but in no way does this team improve with him on as Cf even at the expense of Hogan.

John 'DvB' Useless had it right up top against Preston imo & that’s how we should start.

Two and a half games and Burke gets no better.

Constantly picks the wrong option and his passing is woeful.

But with our injury list he will undoubtedly have to figure more often so whilst he does we must support him and hope he improves.

We need to focus on what he does well rather than what he does badly. It's not so much "two and a half games" as it is 8 years and 8 different clubs.... He's not going to suddenly become good at passing or reading the game now. At the end of the year, he'll be off and it'll be 9 clubs in 9 years when another club says "well he's really quick so he'll be a good option for us."

It doesn't feel like the Monk season to me at all.
We've nicked games we probably shouldn't have and lost games we shouldn't have.

I honestly don't see this "when we click we'll batter someone" that some are saying.

No wins in 5 (inc the cup game) Norwich away next, a place we very rarely get anything from.

How shit are our set pieces? We must give the ball away within three seconds from at least 75% of our own throw ins.

"How did you think we played today, John?"

"I thought we played well but as we all know, not having a Championship-standard striker is killing us."

Cooke and Wagner nod quietly.

"Don't worry John, Craig is on it."

Something like that.

Drameh was very good today, looked far more comfortable than previous games.

Momentum’s gone.

Was a good start to the season but injuries and international break have disrupted us.

Disappointing week, but that’s all it is at the moment.

That momentum shift can happen in an instant again.

You can see most of these players seem to be confidence players. When things are going well, the little tricks, flicks and fancy stuff comes off and looks great. Otherwise we cede possession cheaply in bad areas and the groans come out.

Comfortable mid table is what we’re looking at, it’s next season where the expectation should rightly be highlighted.

I think I would’ve settled for 8th at this point 1.5 points per game isn’t bad and projects to 69 at the end of the season. I think we would settle for that?!
21:33, Fri 22 Sep
I don’t mind settling for a 69.

No point talking sense like that.
