I thought he probably had a better overall game tonight that at Preston.

Much as people don’t like Hogan we are not a side stacked with goals. Especially at home makes sense to me to get both him and Stansfield on the pitch as they are our most likely.

He probably is right but it’s effing boring

We are stuck now until Jan at least, going on about it every game is tiresome

Stansfield and Miyoshi were fantastic v Preston …And yet we still lost.
The constant over reaction on here when we don’t win is a joke. 3 games in six days means we have to rotate players and it’s even more difficult when we have so many players either injured or not match ready. So Hogan has to play games because he is one of only 2/3 strikers we have. He’s finished top scorer for us every season he’s been here so get a grip for gods sake. Of course we need to replace him and Juke at some point but it’s just not possible yet. So stop the lynch mob act and let’s just get behind him- hope he finds some confidence and scores a few goals until we can afford to buy better. Stansfield had 2 or 3 chances tonight and didn’t score but he’s not the scapegoat I suppose.

Take your blinkers off, there was no bad reaction after Preston. The praise for Stansfield and Miyoshi was universal. Stansfields performance as a number nine was something Hogan could only dream about, and yet there he was again last night, as anonymous and impotent as ever.

Burke getting a bit of stick, I didn’t think he was that bad when he came in. Few loose passes, but a nice flicked header and was direct and powerful.

I thought that.

I would have preferred James to come on & move Myoshi right, but I thought Burke was actually alright.

Stop moaning he's the best we've got he runs loads and we all know we wanted a striker and they tried to sign one

Etc

10 excellent players and absolutely no focal point at the top again. Time to try something else. Enough chances now.

Pre-Stansfield I kind of got it. Juke can’t run, it changes the way we play if Hogan isn’t up top, we don’t have any other options etc. but we’ve now seen what Stansfield can do in that position he should be the number 9 until the point we get a new one (although from what I’ve seen Stansfield is about as natural a number 9 as you can get)

Oh joy.

Another anti Hogan thread.

yawn.

So explain what positive impact he had on the game yet again. The bloke is an absolute liability. Stansfield at Preston was everything Hogan wasn’t tonight. Surely the Hogan sympathisers must have seen the light now.

This is exactly why I kept away from here last night. Hogan 'sympathisers'? 😂😂

Jesus h Christ, get a grip.

Just a ridiculous decision by John 'DvB' Useless to change the attacking players tonight. Miyoshi and Stansfield combined fantastically on Tuesday and yet both start in different positions tonight to accommodate a striker who has scored once from open play in 11 months

Hogan yet again barely touches the ball, doesn’t effect the game in any way, and when we put the ball on a plate for him he misses a sitter

I dont think John 'DvB' Useless changed the team to accommodate Hogan.

Dembele, Anderson and Burke are clearly not fit, Miyoshi can't play 90 minutes, Stansfield is probably the only attacker capable of doing 90 minutes but he said himself that he prefers to play behind a striker and showed in the first half that he can effect the game from there.

It was the 3rd game in 6 days so its the managers job to work with his squad, and he knows the condition of the squad better than anyone. Thats why Burke came on for Anderson over Dembele.

If everyone was fit, then our best option is to play a front 4 and forget about a striker. Big if though, all the exciting players we've signed have more than their fair share of injury problems, thats why we were able to sign them in the first place.

So yeah, Hogan doesnt fit the system/is crap (delete according to taste) but its a bit simple to say he changed the team to accommodate him.

Also, I thought QPR were quite good, much better than I expected and certainly better than Preston. Id have thought that having spent 12 years in this league we'd have all have worked out by now that a poor league position doesn't necessarily mean youre going to turn a team over.

Like feeding pearls to swine 😁 - but a good post. It'll never catch on this clear headed, logical and calm thinking though.

He's got no football brain. Note the break with Bacuna free on the left and screaming for the ball, Burke opts to pass to Stansfield with two defenders there to smother him. Great knock-on header for the Hogan missed chance though.

Absolutely.

I don’t know how people can say we didn’t sign a striker when you watch Stansfield, he’s the closest to a Forssell type we’ve had since he left.

He should be the starting striker without a doubt.

I thought Hogan looked reasonably lively. I thought Burke looked dangerous when he was played in. QPR were better than I expected, well organized athletic and decent skills. The division is hard and it's not that easy to win games.

How lively can you look when you touch the ball 9 times in 70 minutes?

Well, people say it because he's explicitly said he doesn't want to play there and we've signed him to play number 10.

Imagine that first half performance behind a better forward.

As we didn't sign one we should play Stansfield out of position as the main striker, he'll still be the best we've got.

Has he actually explicitly said ‘I don’t want to play striker’?

The blues official announcement says he’s a striker:

As does his interview after the Plymouth game:

Fulham’s page for him says he can play as a striker or a number 10:

If he supposedly doesn’t want to play striker he should probably tell his parent and loan club to not refer to him as one.

We both know that striker is not an all encompassing term.

He has, in an interview, explicitly said he prefers to play a bit deeper as a number ten.
