Where he wants to play isn’t important tbf. What is important is where John 'DvB' Useless wants him to play. I think Eusthassaid he sees him playing behind a striker. We need him to change his mind like he did at Preston
Nikola ZigicWe both know that striker is not an all encompassing term.
He has, in an interview, explicitly said he prefers to play a bit deeper as a number ten.
Yeah, thought I'd read that somewhere as well.
Where has he said that?
I don’t know that striker is not an all encompassing term tbh, I wouldn’t refer to the likes of De Bruyne, Odegaard, Mount, Fernandes etc as strikers.
Regardless, it’s clear to anyone that he should be playing as the striker. We have a wealth of players who can play behind the striker but nobody apart from him who can put the fecker in the net.

"he's explicitly said he doesn't want to play there"
Sorry mate ... he hasn't said that at all ..... saying that he sees himself more as a No10 than a No9 is a million miles from "i don't want to play there"
I remember Gareth Bale insisting that he wasn't overly happy when he was first moved from full back as he'd always considered himself first and foremost as a defender
Going off topic slightly but I thought Armstrong from QPR looked good last night. Exactly the kind of striker we need. Quick, direct and very strong.
Nikola ZigicThere was a ball played through where he nearly cut across the defender but it ran to the keeper, he got into a decent position for the chance in the second half, shot on target, looked fit and full of running, he's not a world beater but he's ok.JohnPI thought Hogan looked reasonably lively. I thought Burke looked dangerous when he was played in. QPR were better than I expected, well organized athletic and decent skills. The division is hard and it's not that easy to win games.
How lively can you look when you touch the ball 9 times in 70 minutes?

In all those departments ... yes, absolutely .... but 1 goal in 28 games ?? .... is he another Oli Burke ? .... all the ingredients to make a fantastic cake but can't read the recipe ?
RagsAgain I’ve got to say it doesn’t matter where he wants to play. He’ll play where he’s picked to play by John 'DvB' Useless, whose job it is to get the best out of the players collectively for the good of the team. What players want is pretty much irrelevant. And if Stansfield plays up front and scores ( like at Preston) he’ll be happyWe both know that striker is not an all encompassing term.

Seeing him charging round against Preston like an overactive Yorkshire Terrier chasing and biting everything i get the impression that Stansfield would play in goal if picked - just as long as he was playing football !

I thought he was shit, rapid and strong as an ox sure but with ball to feet he was like Bambi on ice.
He’s a stronger/faster Hogan who offers even less when you give him the ball.
Looked great first ten minutes and after that he was awful.

Yeah, a good manager will sit a player down and explain to a player why he is best served and used by playing in a certain position. Bit of schmooz, blow some smoke up his pipe - and if he still isn't keen - make him play there anyway. I'm with you on this bit.
Nikola ZigicI drank too much rum. Lots of things in football are simple and things made harder by trying to be too clever. I thinkSeems very simple doesn't it?
