The Winning Post in Tamworth does a lovely grill.
Tap and Tandoor in Solihull is good quality but Merrymaid is the answer.
Tap and Tandoor in the old Sadlers Arms in Solihull is really nice if expensive.

Was in Keg & Grill on Friday too.
The food was good, but it had a bit like a school canteen vibe (we did go in to quickly throw some food down our neck after the German Market & get to The Streets)

Was a bit open plan and canteeny as you say, food was excellent though.
