Maintaining the discipline of those in front of them is indeed key, which is why he hasnt been using Dembele so much I feel. The midfield of Sunjic and Bielik remedied this to a degree.
Yeah the team was set up to give Dembele license to do maximum damage, allowed Laird to bomb on, whilst masking our weaknesses and deficiencies. It was mostly effective hence the points return.
and now we have abandoned that almost.
If it aint broke dont fix is a famous saying, however, if we have these outlets, we must use them.
Our transfer philosophy in the summer seemed to be to buy quality but brittle footballers. Anderson, Koji, Roberts, Belik and Laird all have poor fitness records as does Hall and Sanderson has had a few spells out as well. I fear that we will constantly be hearing that once our players are fit this team will be something else.
I really hope out of all the returns though that having Buchanan and Laird back at full back plus seeing Dembele back in the starting line and into some early season form will reverse this wretched run of results.

Not sure he is improving frankly.. and is the main reason Sanderson looks lost .. without Long. His attempted front post clearance at knee high (with his head) which he missed is something you expect to see at 1230 on a Sunday in Billesley Common not a Saturday on Wearside.
So two games into his Blues career, after people have said he should be given a chance, you’ve decided he’d be better off playing pub football and isn’t improving.
Nothing like giving players a chance. Seem to remember the comments about Long were actually worse after his first few games. Football fans have no patience and are very eager to declare any player shit.
