Off to Seville for a long weekend in December.
Aside from the Christmas market, any recommendations for things to see and do in the city and surrounding area please? Will probably hire a car for a couple of days and try to get out and about too, so are Cadiz and Cordoba worth a visit?
TIA.
Seville has tons of good tapas bars, the bull ring has a very good museum tour, there is an old market hall by the river converted to dining which is well worth a look. The monuments in the centre are an attraction but get very busy even in December. A walk along the river is a good way to chill between bars.
Cadiz is fascinating. Great vibe, beautiful location and sunny climate. Bit crowded when the cruise ships are in but even then much quieter in the evening when they’ve left. Again loads of bars & restaurants. Victoria beach outside the city walls will be mostly deserted and amazing in December. Nearby Sanlucar is a good spot for seafood particularly local prawns and has lesser known but good Sherry bodegas to visit.
Enjoy your trip.
Seville is an ace city. You'll find plenty to do over a long weekend.
Go to the cathedral if you haven't been before.
It's enormous and a magnificent building.
If you are at all interested in that sort of thing you can easily spend a couple of hours there.
The old town is really nice as well. Just keep an eye out on the scooters. They get everywhere.
Seville is brilliant (we go to the April fair)
Lots of history and too much for a weekend. Cadiz well worth a visit Cordoba not so much IMHO
The thing I saw that amazed me for the quality of all the performers was a flamenco dance at the national centre in Seville. The guitarist was amazing and so was all the dancers. Good bar there too. Look out for posters of it. I was more or less dragged there but would go back anytime.
Christopher Colombus is buried in the Cathedral.
I think the old mosque in Cordoba is wonderful but it would take a bite out of a weekend.
Real Betis and Sevilla if you pine for football.
You have chosen a great place to go to.

Some of him is 🤣
I visited Seville many years ago on a day trip from the Algarve. Really enjoyed it, apart from the searing heat. Spent some time in the Cathedral, mainly to escape the heat, but was glad we did. I must go back for a longer visit some time.
Also, go and watch real Betis. A proper club. Less illustrious and succesful than their neighbour, lovely ground, working class team of the city.
Shit on Sevilla.
