I remember back in the day there was really good local band called by the name of Escobar, that far back in the day I was a kid and listened to their music via MySpace and Limewire and saw them live at the Jug of Ale and down Digbeth. I know there was a Blues contingent amongst them, does anyone know or can can provide links to where I can listen to their music now please? Ta.

“BIRMINGHAM band Escobar are headlining at Bar Academy for the first time tonight.
The unsigned four piece are hoping to capitalise on the feeding frenzy of record companies signing up top quality bands coming out of the Midlands.
Fresh from supporting The Enemy the band are looking forward to headlining at the Bar Academy.
Lead singer Glen Smyth, who is from Hall Green, says: "We love playing Birmingham because the crowd are so up for it. We have been doing this for two years and we have a good following now so hopefully the gig should near enough be a sell out."
And the band are proud to be part of the antidote to the bland pop acts from the likes of X-Factor and Pop Idol.”

These Birmingham Mail story's will help to explain what happened to the band

That’s a blast from the past, they’re the same age as me and used to frequent a lot of indie nights I went to, so too did Peace. In fact, one of the members of Escobar is a relative of a few posters on here (he may even post on here himself, dunno)

Always nice to see the band been remembered.

I was the guitarist in Escobar.
Our Birmingham gigs were mostly sold out with a big percentage made up of Blues.

We achieved a fair bit of sucesss in a short time.

Touring with The Enemy, getting to play London's Astoria just before it was demolished.
Spending weeks recording in central London for EMI.
Mentioned on the front cover of the NME following a bit of a spat with The Twang.
Lots of newspaper and magazine coverage.
We had a publishing deal in place but couldn't quite get a record deal over the line.

The music needs to be put on Youtube so a footprint of the band is left and can still be listened to.

Songs were put onto Spotify a couple of years ago but are no longer available.

Glenn the singer is currently fronting 'Solar Eyes' who are signed to Fierce Panda records, they played Moseley Festival and their music has featured on many TV shows including BT's Champions League coverage.

Here is 'Soar Eyes' 'Top Of The World which is a reworked version of an 'Escobar' tune.

Escobar called it day I guess when the record deal didn't quite materialise and we could foresee the wave of Indie which we were riding on was beginning to fall away. Glenn, Jonathan, Jamie and I remain mates.

I started up Black Market Empire as frontman.
We had relative success playing with Temper Trap, The Bluetones, Ocean Colour Scene's Steve Cradock with abig local following.
- BME 'Sally Anne'.

I then moved to London before setting up and fronting 'Picasso 45's'
'Details'.

I'm no longer playing but Glenn's Solar Eyes very much are. Well worth checking out and following.

Hopefully the catalogue of what Escobar recorded can find it's way on line soon!
