Have done The Old Joint Stock, The Old Contemptibles, Wellington for a few years with a few mates but looking for a change.
Good ale and decent food without 5 star prices on a Monday lunch time ? A bit of history too ?
Jude should be front and centre of everything England do in the attacking third of the pitch.
Give him the armband now too ! ( AUG 2023 )

The Bull on Price Street is about as traditional as you can get although it did have a makeover about ten years back
Also The Craven up beside the Mailbox (not sure they do that much beyond a pork pie or a cob) and Jewellers Arms in JQ which definitely does do food

Exactly the same as every other Nicholsons pub in the city centre like the Contemptibles and Bacchus.

It’s usually full of Villa too 🤢

For what you're looking for could do a lot worse than the Prince of Wales behind the ICC and library.

Admittedly I've not been in there in a while. I'll give it another go 👍

That Shakespeare is the best of the Nicholsons pubs, it's good.

Good food good beer good people.

The Shakespeare by New Street - I have never really warmed to.

Bacchus is nice but ludicrously expensive and up itself these days.

The OC is ok.

That's the one I'm on about... Is there a second Nicholsons pub called The Shakespeare?

Oh yeah, Summer Row is the one I think I and other are talking about.

Much better option.

There are two Shakespeares.

Just looked on Google Maps and so there is, must be confusing if you work for Nicholsons!

Queens Arms in Newhall Street.
Don’t know if it’s survived lockdown but was a favourite post work drinks place.

Funnily enough was there for a works do not too long ago. Nice pub, slightly limited beer selection but the building is excellently preserved.
