You lot came up trumps with the Vehicle Recovery / Assistance ideas.
Thanks.
I've now gotta insure 2 ageing motors.
With Direct line currently and current years premium £650 combined.
They now want £950 combined ..... I've made no claims. 46% increase ....that does my fruit in !!
Do I spend an hour on a comparison site or is there a quicker route ?
Motor insurance has shot up massively in price this year, because cars in general have.
Worth seeing if comparethemarket has a better deal or not, but that's about it
All insurance premiums are up.
It really doesn't take an hour on a comparison site....just a few minutes.
Save yourself some money and shop around.
According to Martin Lewis you should renew 21 days before expiry of the existing policy to get the best price.

i had to do three separate searches over last weekend and gocompare beat comparthemarket every time (and didn't keep losing my data)
but don't just settle for what either of them show you .... use it as a starting point / ball park
I am worried about my renewal as some insurance companies are refusing to insure my type of car. Its demented.

what type ? i may be able to help
PM me if you don't want to say it publicly
will get back to you tomorrow more than likely .... just i know almost all the specialist insurers - including those for some very weird Japanese and American imports that never appear on drop down lists
I was with Direct line last year. They wanted to increase the price by about 30%. I shopped around and got insurance for almost the same price as last year.

This is spot on from personal experience

I think you may have the same motor as me - I know they have stopped doing so in London, just expensive in Brum so far
I got a 3 year fixed price with Saga last year, glad I did coz quotes for this year are rather high
I am with Direct line. They tried to up my premium by 50%. When I initially rang them to try and get it down they wouldn’t budge. After I went on Compare The Market and got some actual quotes around the amount I was previously paying then I got back to Direct Line again and they gave me a quote not much higher than what I had been paying which I accepted. So go on the comparison sites first and then get back to them is my advice. Best of luck.

aaah ... Range Rovers .... sorry, can't help.
What is it about the RR's that has spooked the insurance companies?
Are they stolen a lot?
