If you watch only one of his films make it Paper Moon. It’s brilliant. Just the job fora soporific Christmas afternoon, actually.

Yep. 82, so ya know, not bad. Paper Moon though….classic. In my top 5, probably.
Despite being on screen for almost the entire time, and therefore a main character Tatum O'Neil was put up for (and won) Best Supporting Actress. Hollywood at the time was a bit squeamish about having child actors and actresses considered stars and refused to make them eligible for Best Actor/Actress.

Bit of luck for Glenda Jackson, who won Best Actress that year, given there were two outstanding child performances in 1973 (Linda Blair being the other) with which she did not have to compete.
