Relatively limited resources, but competing with the best.

Sod that, cook wants us playing like Man City.

West Ham losing 3-0. Lack of tippy-tappiness. Moyes out!

No. I think Luton is what some of our fans want... To have a good season where everything clicks, get promoted and then have some fun in the Premiership before inevitably returning to the Championship in a couple of years. It's a nice short-term aspiration to have.

The owners are looking well beyond what Luton are doing. They've made some mistakes (and they'll likely make more along the way) but they aren't focused on short-term aspirations. They're focused on the medium and long term which is for the club to belong in the Premiership permanently.

Obviously after years and years of utter shite, asking the fans to be patient is a tough sell and when we were 6th in the table, it was the absolute worst time to make big changes... Hopefully they'll get back on track soon. The one big positive of this is that if things don't work out with Rooney, the next guy will be coming in under massively different circumstances and he'll pick up a lot of support from fans simply by not being Wayne Rooney.

Luton's style of football doesn't get you promoted out of the Championship
Pragmatic manager who plays simple but effective football? Nah, doesn't work in the modern game apparently...

To be fair to Luton, they've not had a lucky season. Their owners have made consistently good decisions over a number of seasons, using their resources phenomenally well. If they come back down, I'd have them favourites to come straight back up.

Am I over-thinking things or could this be Cook's ruse? Appoint Rooney then bun him off and win plaudits from fans for "listening"?

This is a bloke who mocked a woman dying of cancer in email, and forgot to take her out of the email chain. He's not intelligent enough to concoct such a ruse

These new rules are, in aggregate, all about helping the big boys keep egg off their faces.

Far from flirting with a relegation spot, they’re firmly embedded in a relegation spot.
Yep, in the best league in the world. And when they come back down to our level, they will be over a hundred million pounds richer.
