Tony Mowbray became Blues 10th permanent manager or head coach in a tad over seven years after replacing Wayne Rooney. And perhaps what is of particular significance is that Mowbray was chosen after a recruitment process. In most recent years, Blues have had in mind the new manager they want to brin

Good stuff. Our 3rd manager this season 😳😁 Hopefully, that sort of carry on ends here.

Good read Colin. The point about us being the longest-serving championship club being part of what made us unattractive to Potter and Cooper is obvious but important. The recent press has shown that fans' confidence in the club is quite far from that of the wider football world - we are all fully signed up to the project but to the average fan we're just championship also rans who did a funny and appointed a big name.

Fact is we're miles from where we need to be and we won't be attractive to the best playing or coaching talent until we look like we're on the way there, I expect. This is a hard league to get out of.

Hopefully with the club being so PR-focused (and the recent, comparatively muted Mowbray announcement) we will be able to change perceptions of us so that future prospective managers and players see us as more attractive.

Great article. Blues used to be so stable with managers...Barry 3 years, Trev 5 years, Bruce 6 years, McLeish 3 years. Hopefully Sir Tony will stay for a good few years.

I think this is something that will take time, indeed. We have been viewed as a basket case by the public-at-a-large and media for a decade. We know things are now changing for the better in regards ownership and how the club is being run. But it will still be a while before the shift in opinion is widespread.
And in football, managers like a Cooper and Potter will still be wary of committing, due to our recent past history. As mentioned in the piece, the cost of either of them would undoubtedly have been prohibitive, too.
Once there is evidence on the pitch of improved results, success and us being competitive at the right end of the league, that's when the narrative can start to alter.
