That was quite something. Nigeria score for 2-0 but pulled back and a penalty (I think rightly) given to South Africa at other end. Though use of VAR has been doubtful a lot of times in the tournament.
The SA no 9 has been impressive, great make too!
So Nigeria’s second goal was discounted and South Africa then awarded a penalty for an incident which had happened…how long before?
About 30 seconds.
Red card just been given aswell through var
So not long at all but still, this is a perfect example of why VAR is ruining the game. Okay, so South Africa “should” have been awarded a penalty; the ref didn’t - for whatever reason - award it, so move on. Rewinding the play to then award a penalty is just not in the spirit of football.
It’s nonsense.
It was clear, I wouldn’t usually defend VAR but that was about a decisive a moment as it’s possible to get

Because officials make mistakes. Just like players do; just like managers do. So the game has been ruined as a spectacle in the search for “perfection”. VAR football is not for me!

No because they can be checking the penalty whilst the game is going on. Your desperation to have a go at VAR has made you look daft here. They check penalties and found it was a penalty.

It’s not desperation…okay, it is desperation- desperation that THIS is what football has become. If you think that stopping and rewinding play, “undoing” a goal that was scored to “correct” a decision made and then award a penalty…if you think this is okay, that this is acceptable in football, well, you’re the daft one.
“They can be checking the penalty whilst the game is going on” - the ref didn’t award it. Move on. I’ve seen the incident and yes, it was a foul. But ultimately, it’s subjective. So for other, less obvious incidents, the same thing could happen: one ref might award the penalty, another might not. ALL part of the game.

Nope.
It is a perfect example of VAR doing the job it is supposed to do.
People on here, most likely including you, would be raging if that incident had gone against Blues.
So you don't ever complain about referee's decisions then?

I accept that they’re part of the game.
